Reclaiming Quinn - Parker Williams Page 0,54
He has the strength, but you have the heart. The two of you together will accomplish many things.”
Talk of the future gave Quinn hope. “If we can get him back.”
“The Alpha Supreme will get him, of this I am sure. The question is, what is to become of you.”
“Me?” Quinn wasn’t sure he liked that. “What do you mean?”
“As Sean said, bonds were meant to form when the two halves came together. When you and Deke began bonding before you were ready, I was shocked. You need more than anyone I know, but you have more to give as well. I know you wanted to be a doctor when you grew up, and I think that Lyram is right. You have a gift, and I would rather not see it wasted. Dr. Franklin usually devotes his time to the mental and physical needs of his people, but I have a feeling now that he and his wife have a daughter of their own, they will devote more time to her care and upbringing.”
“But—”
“You can do this, Quinn. You were always meant to be there for our people, and now you have that chance. Find your mate and you’ll find yourself.” She leaned in and kissed Quinn on the forehead. “You are my child, and I never want you to forget that. I thought I would need to rescue you, but it turns out you already had a family to do that for you.”
“Do you know where Deke is? Can you tell me that?”
“You have but to follow your heart. The two of you are so entwined now that nothing will ever permanently separate you.” She shivered slightly. “Your brother is getting anxious. I think he wants to come back to you.” A quick brush of fingers over Quinn’s hair. “You and Sean have always been among my favorites. Goodbye, Quinn.”
As he watched, the darkness faded, leaving Quinn peering into Sean’s violet eyes again.
“The Mother?” he asked.
Quinn nodded, too stunned to form words.
“I can feel her love for you.” He reached out and wrapped his arms around Quinn. “And I heard her plan for your future. I gotta say, I think it’s brilliant.”
Though he agreed, Quinn first wanted the one thing he needed more than anything. His mate. And knowing that Mother saw them together and found them perfect for each other? Quinn would give anything to make it happen.
Chapter Fifteen
“THIS TASTES like shit!” one of Klein’s men screamed, throwing the bowl of pasta at Deke. He reached out and grabbed Zach by the throat. “These fucking pathetic humans are garbage, but I expect better of you.”
“Leave him alone!” Deke growled.
The guy sneered as he shoved Zach back down onto the chair. “Or what? Fucking spineless bitch.”
He stalked closer, and Deke held up a hand. “Klein won’t be happy if you touch me.”
“Fuck Klein. You’ve been an uppity bitch long enough.”
He reached for Deke, who was about to push the guy away, when he was jerked back. Deke’s gaze snapped up to find Zach, his arm around the guy’s throat, squeezing. The asshole’s eyes bugged.
“Zach, let him go.”
Instead, Zach squeezed harder, and Deke was astounded that he was able to hold the wolf who was clawing at his arm.
“You wanna talk uppity? I could break your neck right now, asshole. You don’t come in here and throw your weight around. And you sure as hell don’t talk down to a guy who can’t walk. Do I make myself clear?”
The answer came out as a choked yes. Part of Deke hoped Zach snapped the bastard’s neck, but the more logical part knew this was going to lead to trouble.
“Let him go. Now!”
Deke narrowed his eyes, as he’d seen Lyram do when he was annoyed. But Zach must have noticed something in Deke’s gaze, because he pushed the guy away. Klein’s man fell to the floor and stared at them, rubbing his throat.
“It’s a good thing Klein’s going to gut you,” he snarled. His eyes flicked up and down as he took in Zach’s muscular form. “I intend on having the first steak.”
Zach cocked his head, then paled. “Get the hell out of here.”
The guy trembled, then scrambled to obey. As soon as he was out of the door, he slammed it shut and locked it. Deke turned to Zach.
“Are you stupid?”
Zach huffed. “So, what? I was supposed stand here and do nothing?”
“No, you were supposed to trust me to handle myself. Despite appearances to the contrary, I am not an invalid.”
Zach’s gaze
