Rage (Her Monsters Book One) - K.A Knight Page 0,44
non-humans?"
"No, no, no! They steal and take girls to sell, we get our fun and well, erm, they tend to out themselves when we touch them. Like you did. Usually, though, they don't have a clue until that moment and their powers are weak."
"What do you do with them?" I ask, leaning closer.
"They, not we. We just take them down there. I think they experiment on them, try to bring their powers out further. If they can’t, they are resold or if they are too broken, they kill them," he rushes out, with sweating dripping down his forehead.
"If you can bring them out?" I press, sitting back.
"They sell them, I don't know who to. They are some mysterious weird people. They claim they are their people, and they buy them all and we never see them again. I swear, that's all I know!" he pleads.
"Well, that's boring. If that's all you know, what use are you to me?" I query, tapping my chin dramatically.
His eyes widen and his breathing stutters. "I can get you out of here, without me you won't get through the doors, there are hand scanners!" he shouts, bucking up against me, but I just brace my legs and keep us there, my new strength coming in handy.
"Oh, I don't need you alive for that," I say softly as I lean back down. "Don't worry, it won't hurt—much." I laugh.
He opens his mouth to scream and I latch on, my mouth covering his as my powers roars to life, sucking down his energy and life. He kicks and fights beneath me while I keep him pinned, holding his face with both hands in a vice-like grip, our mouths fused against each other.
I feel him weakening with every pull, and his legs slow down and his hands stop their beating until they drop to his side, useless. Opening my eyes, I meet his as they start to dim, his whole face going gaunt like I’m sucking the life from him—which I guess I am.
When he’s nothing more than a husk, I pull away and lick my dry lips. I throw my head back and groan at the full feeling—you know, the one where you go to an all-you-can-eat buffet and you over stuff yourself? Yeah, that. It feels like I might burst. Luckily, I know what’s coming when the shivers start to rack my body, and this time I try to speed them up.
Calling inside of me, I search for that power that flows up and over my skin, changing it. Closing my eyes through the pain, I breathe deeply and let it change me. My body extends and my muscles harden.
It's faster this time, and in under thirty seconds I open my eyes and look down at my body to see that of the guard. I even have his clothes on, but no guns. That will be a dead giveaway.
I stand up and freeze when I hear the whispers of the other girls, forgetting for a moment I had an audience.
"What the fuck?" one mutters, her voice shaking in fear.
Turning around to look at the other cages, I see that they are all looking at me in fear, apart from the girl in the cage opposite me. She stares with a small smile curving her lips, and it’s the closest thing to life I’ve ever seen enter her eyes. "Well shit, you were right." She laughs.
I grin back at her and she grimaces. "It's weird, I know it's you, but all I can see is that bastard."
"Try growing a cock, that shit is weird," I reply with a wink, as I turn back and unstrap the dead man's weapons and slide them onto my body. Spinning back around, I face her and hold my arms out.
"Everything look the same?" I ask.
She runs her eyes down me, and wraps her hands around her middle in an attempt to keep herself warm. "Yes, apart from the blood on your chin, they will question where it came from."
Nodding in thanks, I wipe my chin and when I face her again she nods. Turning back, I quickly search his body for anything useful. I find the keys in his front pocket and I hang them from one finger as I kick his body into the corner of the cell. He lets out a ripping fart and I crinkle my nose, even in death he's an ass.
Slipping from my open cage, I head across the row and open hers first. She nods
