Rage (Her Monsters Book One) - K.A Knight Page 0,10
alley. Pulling them back into my body, I push back my black hood and stride to the door. I guess I’ll be hunting tonight, behind on my plan and having to roll with the punches. All because of the call.
Who the fuck would have thought a mistake like me would ever have received one?
I fall backwards, my memories tumbling with me, streaming through my mind like a taunting laugh. Reminding me of everything I lost, of my death, and now my rebirth. My eyes flash open and connect with those bright, shining orbs of the creature before me, that’s what he is after all—a creature.
More monster than man, his face animal and still hauntingly beautiful. I’m betting he’s the same in his human form, beautiful yet dangerous. Yet, I find myself leaning towards him, seeking the warmth of his skin and the tingle that runs through me when we touch. Yes, I bet he is beautiful as a human, but as a monster? He’s powerful, terrifying, and downright addictive.
Most hide away their darkness, letting it twist them, he wears it on his skin for all to see. Claiming it, owning it, his power brushing the very ground he walks on. I should be terrified, I should be horrified, but I’m not. His monster calls to mine, a power pulsing inside of me waiting to be set free, the one that clawed me from death and dug me from the ground.
With a scream, all that power flows out of me, twisting around the horror and pain still running through my body as the memories finally settle. Like a lock turning or a jigsaw finally clicking together, but I can't stop the power. It seems to run through me, from me, into me, flowing out into the world until finally, it stops, and I slump to the side breathing heavy.
My eyes open slowly to see the creature is doing pretty much the same, I should stay and see if he’s okay, but something in me tells me I won't want to leave then, and I need to leave. I need to make Tim pay. If killing me and then defiling me once more wasn't enough, he hid my body like a dirty little secret. Hate and fury twist inside me, branding me as its own. No, he must pay. I will make him beg for his life before I end it. I will destroy everything he holds dear. His job. His money. His standing. Then his life.
Seems dying freed something more than just the power in me—my evil side too.
Standing, I smile softly down at the creature who’s struggling into a crossed legged sitting position. "I’m sorry, I have to go. I have people to kill," I say, before blowing him a kiss and turning to the forest. It's like I know exactly where to go, something guiding me through the trees. Every footstep is light and cushioned by the earth, it’s welcoming me and urging me on. No branches hit me, or animals attack me. I’m safe here, it calls to me, but I can't stay.
I pick up sounds of traffic and I speed up, even as I feel something hunting me, but my body twists towards the darkness and I can see the shining eyes there. I’m not afraid, he won't hurt me even if he is hunting me. I grin and turn back to the sound of cars. Reaching the tree line, I linger in the dark for a moment, before stepping out on the concrete.
The road is quiet at the moment, making me groan. Just my luck. Tilting my head, I hear a car coming. Stepping out onto the road, I wait in the middle, my feet apart and my arms by my side. I’m still naked, but I can't seem to care. My body feels right for once and when I look down, I realise I have my curves back.
The car comes around the corner a moment later, the lights shining on the cat’s eyes at the side of the road and penetrating into the darkness of the forest, before lighting up where I am.
The car screeches to a halt, burning rubber as it stops before me. My eyesight is that good now, where I can pick out the man driving behind the wheel as he grips it tightly and tries to calm down from his near miss, and yet I still casually stand here. I see the moment his eyes land on me, they bloom with
