Queen Of Sins - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,7

all had it not been for the obvious fact that we had stopped.

Which was also why it definitely made it a good place to camp, as now the weather had taken a turn for the worst and I found myself shivering in Lucius’ hold.

“We are here, sweetheart,” he told me, and my teeth chattered when I reminded him,

“Thank the Gods, I can no longer feel my ass and am worried it might have been left behind on the road somewhere.” Lucius chucked and replied,

“Now, would I ever allow something like that to happen? No, not when I do so love this ass of yours and have plans to take it in the future.”

“To take it. Like where, on a date?” I asked laughing, which sounded weird through the cold snapping of my teeth.

“Most definitely… one you will never forget,” he told me in a way that I knew was another promise, and this time when I shivered it had nothing to do with the cold. As for our herd of beasts and their army riders, they had each come to a stop at the bottom of a wall of stone where I could just make out the caves above. Large hollows in the rock face that would have been impossible for us to reach on foot. It made me silently question how we were supposed to get to them, when that answer soon came after Lucius slid off the back of the Manticore. Then, before I followed, Lucius started untying a bundle attached to the saddle, one I knew held rations of food, a skin flask of water, and what looked like rolled up fur blankets that had all been provided for us by the King for our journey.

Lucius then turned back to me and reached up, telling me,

“Swing that leg over, sweetheart, and I will catch you as you fall.” I gave him a pointed look that made his lips twitch trying to hold back a knowing grin.

“Fall, eh?” I said, making him smirk this time.

“This coming from the man who spent thousands of years riding a horse… yeah, ‘cause that’s fair,” I muttered as I did as I was told. I felt smug when I didn’t fall, but ended up sat on the saddle with both legs dangling over the side facing my cocky Vampire. Although, Lucius just shrugged his large shoulders at this and said,

“Or I am just naturally graceful.” I laughed once and replied,

“Way I remember it, there was nothing graceful about me dropping your ass to the floor, handsome.” Hearing this he allowed his grin to show a second before he snatched out, shackling my ankle and tugging, making me fall into his awaiting arms.

“Well, would you look at that… you can fall gracefully after all.” I scowled at him and as held me only an inch away from his lips, said,

“You cheated.”

“To get you in my arms quicker, sweetheart, I will always fucking cheat.” Then he finished this bad ass statement by crushing his lips to my own, deepening the kiss the moment I wrapped my legs around his waist and at the ready to climb him like a damn stripper’s pole! But then I had to say, there was something that had to be said for kissing in the rain as it was… beautifully wet and raw.

However, it was the clearing of someone’s throat that finally made me realise we weren’t exactly alone and when I pulled back, Lucius snarled in annoyance before we both turned our heads towards the person who dared interrupt us. Of course, on seeing all those faces now turned our way I blushed scarlet, and had to say I was glad for the interruption, even if Lucius clearly wasn’t.

“My Lord, the deepest cave is the one on the far right,” Carn’reau said with an amused twitch of his lips, obviously hinting that we should head that way if we wanted to be alone whilst we made out like randy teenagers.

“Good, see that we are not disturbed… it’s time to get my Queen warm,” he said, making me want to bite my fingertips at the sexual intent that laced his words. Then he pulled my legs from where they were hooked at the base of his spine, but before letting my feet touch the floor, he swept them up. I quickly heard the whoosh of air as he revealed his wings and used them to fly us up to the top of the ledge that was the start of
