Queen Of Sins - Stephanie Hudson Page 0,107

my hand up from the root in sight of what I had done. But then, as I cradled the Eye even tighter to my chest, telling it I was sorry for what I had done, I realised it wasn't yet finished with me.

It had something more to show me, and this would be more shocking than anything that I had ever learned about Lucius’ life, because it was something that even he didn't know.

A secret so horrendous that a silent scream tore from me the moment every single vision assaulted me. Every memory that showed me the horrifying truth!

Because Dalene had never been the witch.

She had never been the source of great power.

She had only ever been a prison for the true strength that they kept locked inside her. Two souls fused together and forced to live in one vessel. A vessel that belonged not to Dalene, but in fact to a promise made by Jesus.

A promise he kept.

The resurrected soul of Lucius’ daughter,

Dalene was…

Kala’s prison.

Broken and Severed Soul

What had I done?

I fell to the floor, as the pieces of my life started to crumble around me.

Nothing seemed to make sense anymore, like the parts of my soul that no longer felt like my own. I could barely keep conscious as my eyes failed to open, doing so for only seconds at a time. Barely even more than flashes, and not really enough to take in what was happening. I don't know how long I had been this way, as my mind was too hazy to process the details.

All I could focus on was the images of that little girl being made to stand there and watch as her mother burned at the stake. Something I now knew Matthias himself had been the cause of. I knew in those few moments of being shown her life, that he had tried to manipulate her, doing so with her mother’s help since the day she was born.

Because what he found in Dalene when she was pregnant with Kala’s reincarnated soul, was a power of the likes he had never known. In fact, I knew, thanks to the knowledge the Eye had given me, that he had been about to rid himself of Judas’ wife, the day after his death. The day after his plan had failed and Judas became the King he always wanted to be. But then, in his rage and as the knife drew closer to her neck, he paused in murdering her, when he felt the power of the life now growing inside of her.

So, he waited until the child was born and as he thought, it was a power that only increased with time as she grew. But this supernatural force inside her was of a Heavenly one. One gifted from the Gods as promised by Jesus. So, Matthias drew from this power and used it to keep her mother alive so she could control the girl. But then, as the years progressed, she grew even more suspicious and rebellious against them. She started having dreams of her father, Lucius, who they had tried to turn her against. She started to understand their evil intent and that Lucius was not the evil tyrant as she was led to believe.

So, Matthias knew something had to be done before her strength grew too much for him to contain. So, to spark her hatred of vampires, he decided what better way than to use her mother. He manipulated for her death to be carried out by being burned at the stake as a witch, by villagers who he veiled as vampires.

Then with it, he used the last of his power to merge their souls into one vessel. However, the moment he did this, Kala saw every evil intent her mother possessed, including the knowledge that she had been the one to end her first life. She saw that day through her mother’s eyes as she watched with distaste and jealousy as her father cried over her death. In that moment, it was the first time she truly knew what it meant to be loved by someone.

But 2000 years was a long time to be manipulated and finally, when she grew into a woman, she discovered a way to escape. But this came at a price, as each time she would have to carve a releasing rune into her own skin, allowing her some time to be in control. Matthias used her for her powers, locking her will away and allowing her
