too.

Once the plane is in the air, he seems to relax a lot, which is good. But just to make sure he doesn’t get scared again, I move the armrest out of the way and snuggle close to him while we watch a movie.

Seventeen hours later, the plane touches down.

As soon as our wheels are on the ground, Barrett is back in full Daddy mode, taking charge of everything to get us out of the airport and to our hotel. It was fun to comfort him for a change, but I’m glad to have things back to normal real quick.

If I thought the hotel we stayed at during our drive to Vegas was fancy, this hotel is on a whole other level.

“Look at the ocean,” I gasp, stepping out onto the balcony, the smell of salty water hitting me along with a sense of awe at the view.

Barrett comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my middle. “It’s the Mediterranean Sea,” he corrects. “Specifically Riviera Ligure di Ponente.” The way his mouth caresses the words makes me grin. I tilt my head back so I can see him.

“You sound hot when you speak French, Daddy.”

He chuckles. “That was Italian.”

I frown. “We’re in France, and that water is Italian?” I point out at the sea. “Whatever language it was, it was hot.”

“I don’t know much Italian or French, but I guess I’ll have to learn some dirty phrases for you. Unless you’re particularly turned on by locations and geography.”

I giggle. “Can’t say geography does it for me. But I’m pretty sure you could read me the phone book and make it sound sexy.”

“Mmmm,” he hums, kissing the side of my neck. “Sounds like a fun challenge.”

I sink back into his arms, relaxing and soaking up the impossible beauty of the moment until the feeling is so big inside me, I don’t know how I manage to stay in one piece.

“Let’s go to the beach,” he says after a few minutes of silence.

I crane my neck again and eye him skeptically. “It ain’t one of those nudie beaches is it?”

Barrett laughs again. “No, little rabbit, it isn’t a clothing optional beach. I’m not aware of one here in Nice, but if you’d really like to swim nude, I’m sure we could find a private spot to make that happen,” he teases, and I pat his arm.

“I’m good with wearin’ a swimsuit,” I assure him.

We step back into the hotel room to get changed for the beach. I don’t even give a second thought to Barrett undressing me anymore. His hands artfully stripping me down and then clothing me all over again is comforting. It reminds me I’m his, not that I’m likely to forget that anytime soon. As impossible as it seems that he could want to keep me, every time I look at him and see the way he looks back, I believe it a little more.

Once we’re in our bathing suits, sunscreen also carefully applied by Barrett’s very thorough hands, we head down to the beach just behind the hotel.

The sand is soft under my feet, sinking in where the tide comes in, leaving deep footprints and squishing between my toes. The sun beats down on us from overhead, making sweat bead on my skin.

“This is why I put the sunscreen on you,” Barrett points out.

“I get why, I just said I didn’t think it was necessary to put so much on my backside when I’d have swim shorts on the whole time,” I say. “By the way, it’s prob’ly a good time to tell ya that I can’t swim.” I eye the pretty blue water longingly.

His eyebrows shoot up, and he seems to consider the problem for a few seconds before stooping down and lifting me into his arms.

“Daddy,” I squeal, grabbing onto his neck before I fall. I really wish he’d start warning me before doing that.

He starts to splash into the water, and I hold onto him tighter, squeezing my legs around his waist and clutching his neck for dear life.

“I’m not going to drop you,” he promises.

“I know.” I can’t think of a thing I’ve ever trusted more.

Barrett

After the beach, we go back to the room to grab a shower and get changed so I can take Sterling out to dinner.

I kiss and touch him shamelessly while I dress him, earning sweet smiles and laughter in return that fill my heart up past brimming.

“If I don’t manage to stop kissing you, we’re never going
