Play Dirty (Wages of Sin #2) - Neve Wilder Page 0,83

and possibly some ways to cope with some of their more deviant compulsions. Look how easily you two opened up to me. Everybody wants somebody to hear them tell their side of the story. Some of these men are far beyond help, so all I can do is listen to them and learn how they hunt, how the stalk their prey, how they kill, what led them to these things, and hope that my research will allow me to stop others before their compulsions drive them to the same fate.”

“So, how do you find these men?” Ronin asked, pulling a chair up to the bed, like he’d just decided to audit one of Eastman’s lectures.

“They find me. Very few doctors advertise their services on the darknet so I tend to get more clients than I can handle, especially since I’m willing to make house calls. I’d be happy to do a deep dive into my practice if that’s what you’re interested in, or I could tell you what you really want to know.”

“And what’s that?” Madi asked.

“Don’t you want to know where the rest of his ports are? Where his victims are? Where they come from? Where they’re going? How Bennington and others feel about your deadpool?”

Sadie stood at that and came to stand beside Madi. “What did you just say?”

“I said I’ll tell you everything. It hardly matters now since all three of the men involved are dead and their client list is about to be forever silenced. I suppose I should be upset that a few of my research projects will likely end up with a syringe in their neck or their tongue hanging out of their throat, but honestly, I feel…unbothered. Maybe that makes me a monster, too.” His laugh sent a chill through Az and had Madi squeezing Az’s shoulder again.

“If you would like to get your man on the line, I could give him the information you seek. It would probably be easier for me to relay it to him directly. I imagine time is of the essence. There are many who are waiting to get home to their families.”

“Don’t you feel bad?” Ronin asked. “You have all this insider knowledge. You could save hundreds, thousands maybe.”

“Do you feel bad when you pull the trigger or set off a bomb or slit a throat? Do you do background checks on your victims before you take a fee? My job isn’t to save these people; by the time I hear of them, ninety percent of them are dead. But when I can, like now, I will do what I can to remove the person before they become a victim. If I turned in Bennington for letting slip the location of one shipping container full of victims, the others would simply disappear. All of them, like they never existed. You have taken out the enemy, and now, I can tell you everything. Do you want to keep judging me and my work, or can I just give you the information?”

Madi sighed and looked to Sadie. “Get Red on the line and let Eastman give him the info he needs so he can drop it to the feds.”

“What am I, the secretary?” Sadie snapped.

“Oh, for fuck’s sake.” Madi pulled his phone from his pocket and called up the number before relaying the pertinent information to Cas and handing the phone to Eastman.

Once finished, Eastman asked if he could return home. Ronin offered to drive him in exchange for answering more questions. Eastman reluctantly agreed. Az didn’t care about anything anymore. He was suddenly exhausted. “Are we done here, jaanum? I’d like to return to our room.”

Madigan frowned. “I knew this would be too much for you. You’re not getting out of bed for another three days.”

“Oh, Jesus.” Sadie snorted. “I never thought I’d see the day. You are so…whatever the male equivalent of pussywhipped is. Dick whipped?”

“Sounds kinky.” Az flashed Madi a wink before another wave of exhaustion swept over him.

This time, when he woke, it was to find Madi naked and wrapped around him, his soft snores purring against Az’s throat.

Az pushed his ass back against Madi’s crotch, pleased to find he was hard, wondering how difficult it would be to make him harder, hard enough to slide back onto without causing Az too much damage.

“Don’t even think about it,” Madi murmured against his ear.

“Hello, motek,” Az replied, voice raw from sleep.

“You cannot possibly be thinking about getting laid right now,” Madi whispered, even as he nosed
