Play Dirty (Wages of Sin #2) - Neve Wilder Page 0,72
they lay in a heap, drenched in sweat, cum striped over Madigan’s abdomen and spilling down his sides as they sprawled in the afterglow. He ran a hand lightly over Az’s dark hair, the man’s fingers still buried possessively inside Madigan, pushing back in the seed that had tried to run out when they’d collapsed next to each other.
“The dog probably needs to go out.”
“I’ll do it,” Az said, starting to get up, but Madigan yanked him back down and pressed an impulsive kiss to the other man’s forehead. “Let me. I need to piss anyway.”
Madigan slipped from the bed, pausing for a look over his shoulder as he walked toward the bathroom. Azrael lay splayed indolently on the mattress, head pillowed on bent arms, cock soft on his thigh. He didn’t bother trying to hide the hunger still in his gaze as he watched Madigan.
Something twinged in Madigan’s chest, and when Azrael’s lips quirked with self-aware charm, Madigan finally inwardly acknowledged that he liked being watched by the other man, found it reassuring somehow—whether the intent was salacious, protective, or maybe even affectionate.
Mantis trotted into the bathroom, tiny nails clicking on the tiles as Madigan used the facilities, brushed his teeth, then pulled on a pair of sweats and a long-sleeved tee.
“C’mon, killer,” he muttered, and was surprised when Mantis followed after him like she’d understood the sentiment was meant for her. He refreshed her water bowl and found a leash, clipping it onto her collar before tsking at her as she scratched at the cabinets when she caught sight of her food. “Uh-uh, sweetheart. Bathroom first. I don’t do clean-up duty.”
He tucked the Glock Az had given him into the waistband of his briefs and yawned as he pulled on a jacket, stuffed his feet into his shoes, and opened the door.
Downstairs, Mantis princessed around the small courtyard, taking her sweet ass time before finally doing her business. Madigan let her sniff around another five minutes and then snapped a pic and sent it to Eastman as his requested proof of life.
Back in the elevator, Christmas Muzak sounded through the speakers as Madigan punched the button for their floor and then leaned against the wall with another yawn. As the elevator door began to slide shut, he wondered if it was too much to hope that Az had the coffee going.
Mantis let out a little yip at the same time a hand thrust into the remaining two-inch gap of the sliding door, triggering it to stop with a jolt and slowly reverse course. Madigan was instantly wide awake, gun in hand and trained against the opening from where he’d slid next to the door.
“You could offer us a little coffee before you shoot.”
The knot in Madigan’s stomach loosened at the sound of Jonah’s voice. He muttered a curse and tucked the gun away as Jonah stepped onto the elevator with Cas. “The hell are you two doing here?”
“Missed you, too.” Cas blew him a mocking kiss. “ Surprise.” He spangled his fingers in the air. “ Jonah can’t stand being out of the action, and I don’t like being left alone these days.”
“Sounds like you and Miss Mantis here have that in common.” Madigan nudged his chin toward the dog, then pointedly flicked his gaze back and forth between the two. “Actually, there’s more than just a passing resemblance between you two.”
Cas flipped him off and nudged Jonah. “Told you he’d be totally ungrateful. We should’ve just stayed home.”
“He’s relieved we’re here, actually.” Jonah’s gaze upon Madigan hadn’t relented since he’d stepped into the elevator, and he wasn’t wrong. “Aren’t you?”
“Not gonna turn down the extra hands, nope,” Madigan admitted. After going over the plans Cas had sent him, it’d occurred to him more than once that, given everything he’d seen of Bennington’s cleverness and caution so far, he couldn’t discount the guy might outwit them again, even with the extra manpower.
The elevator slid open, and they walked down the hall toward the apartment. “Cas is gonna set up in the apartment as long as the signal is solid. Otherwise, he can do it back at the hotel. I just figured it might be good to have us all in one place.”
“Sadie’s going to join us from the airport,” Madigan said, and Jonah nodded in acknowledgment. “Ronin should be here in about an hour.” He groaned a happy sigh at the scent of coffee that greeted him when he opened the door to the apartment.
