afternoon off.”

And at that I jump to my feet and start pacing the small stretch of carpet between my bed and the door. “Seriously?” I demand. “Seriously? A dance recital?”

“Uhh…are you mad?”

I throw my hands up in frustration. “Yes, I’m mad. Do you know why?”

Spencer’s brows crease in confusion. “Because you don’t like dance recitals?”

“What? No. I’m mad, because I can’t be mad anymore.” I stop pacing and face him head on, resting my hands on my hips. “You broke my heart, you know that? Just completely smashed it into pieces. And then you come in here looking all sexy and giving this completely sincere and logical explanation and telling me you love me and doing this sweet thing for your driver. And now I can’t be mad at you because that would just be petty!”

“It seems like you’re still pretty mad…” Spencer says warily.

“And also, why haven’t you kissed me yet?” I demand.

“Um…you’ve been shouting at me…”

“Well, now that I’ve started I can’t seem to stop! I’m sorry but that’s just—”

Spencer steps forward, cutting off my newest tirade by wrapping his hand around the back of my head and pulling me toward him. His lips crash against mine in a fierce kiss and in an instant I feel that ridiculous hot-headedness float away as I just sink into his arms, feeling like I’m exactly where I belong.

We fall onto the bed, completely tangled up in each other.

“I’ll never doubt you again,” Spencer whispers in between kisses. “I promise.”

“I know. And I’ll try not to yell at you irrationally…too much.”

“No, don’t stop doing that,” he murmurs. “It’s sexy as hell.”

“You’re turned on by some strange things, mister.”

He lets out a soft chuckle. “Just you. Everything about you turns me on.”

I thread my hands through his hair and cling tight, tugging him closer for some more greedy, breathless kisses. He maneuvers us so I’m on my back, with his strong, lean body sealed on top of mine. I let out a harsh groan and my head falls back against the mattress as he thrusts down, grinding his cock into mine.

“Fuck, I want you, Will,” he growls. “Missed you so much, baby.”

My hands slide under the hem of his shirt, roaming over the taut muscles of his back and I’m about to tell him that I want him too, that despite how much he hurt me I’ve missed him every single second since things ended and now all I want to do is strip him down, tie him up, and make him beg for me to let him come… but then I hear a clatter from outside my room and remember my mom’s in the kitchen and the walls in this apartment are way too thin.

“Fuck.”

“I know…” Spencer murmurs against my neck, obviously misunderstanding the reason for my curse.

“No, wait. Spence, we have to stop.”

“What? Why?” He lifts his head to look at me, and judging from his bleary expression, he’s also forgotten all about my mom.

“My mom’s just outside.”

Realization crosses his features and he slowly pries his body away from mine, leaving me feeling completely bereft. “So…I guess no sex, then?” His inability to hide his disappointment is laughable.

I let out a soft chuckle. “Oh no, we’re having sex. We just need to relocate.”

“My place?”

I shake my head adamantly. “Hell no! Your place is way too far away!” I climb off the bed and stalk over to my closet, retrieving my sleeping bag, which I toss to Spencer. “Here.”

“Um…what?”

“Trust me,” I tell him, offering a teasing smirk.

He just shrugs and climbs off the bed, sleeping bag clutched to his chest.

I retrieve a few condoms and some lube from my nightstand and stuff them in my pockets, then grab a throw rug from the foot of my bed. “Come on, let’s go upstairs.”

The skeptical expression doesn’t leave Spencer’s face until I’ve led him out of my bedroom, across the living room, and have pushed up the window to reveal the fire escape.

“The roof?” he asks.

“Yup.”

“Are you sure this is secure enough?”

I let out a breath of wry amusement. “It’s fine.” I step onto the fire escape and start climbing the stairs. Our apartment is on the top floor so we have pretty easy access to the roof, which has definitely come in handy from time to time.

“Wow, this is a nice set-up,” Spencer comments once we’re standing on the roof. It’s honestly pretty basic, just a pair of sun lounges and a small cooler, but it does the job.

I move toward the
