in.

Marcy had been right all along. Annie owed her a deep debt of gratitude for forcing her to confront her demons. Without her friends, she never would have gone out with Dylan that day. And if she hadn’t, she would be alone without him or her baby.

“Your friends are fun,” he said.

“Too bad they won't be around to babysit,” she said.

“What do you mean?”

“Because it's time for you to return to Fate Rock and your farm. And it's time for me to go with you.”

His eyes turned bright with excitement. He rushed to her and gathered her in his arms, kissing her face and cheeks. “You mean you and Dawn are coming home with me?”

“Yes. It's time for us all to go home.”

A week later, Annie and Dylan had her most important belongings packed up and ready to go. The rest would be moved down later by a shipping company. For now, all she needed was the essentials. He rented a trailer and hooked it up to his Jeep. It was filled with her clothes, computer, a few small pieces of furniture, and all the baby gear.

They packed Dawn up in the backseat of the car and headed out toward their new life. Every mile they drove, Annie felt as if her heart was getting closer to home. To where she’d belonged all along but had never known it.

They drove up in front of his house a few hours later, and he carried Dawn's car seat inside. Annie sat with her daughter while Dylan and his brothers unpacked the trailer.

His home was beautiful and clean. Nothing like the bachelor pad she'd expected. The living room had comfortable furniture and a big-screen TV. A big oak table and six chairs stood in the dining room. The tidy kitchen had granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances, and the back door looked out onto a pasture.

They carried Dawn upstairs, and Dylan showed her where he'd set up the crib in the nursery. It had been a guest room. She laid Dawn down to sleep in the crib, and they watched her there in the soft afternoon sunlight streaming through the window. She closed the curtains and turned off the light as she left the room. She and Dylan stood in the hallway, holding each other.

He took her hand, and they went downstairs. They walked out onto the back porch and sat in the rocking chairs while drinking bottles of iced tea from the fridge. It was a warm summer day, and a hawk flew overhead while the cattle grazed in the lush green grass.

“It's so beautiful here,” she said. “I could definitely get used to this.”

He smiled at her and took her hand. He raised it to his lips and kissed the back of her knuckles. “I'm counting on it.”

That night, Dylan cooked a dinner of steak and potatoes, and after Dawn was fed, burped, and put to sleep, they settled into his big king-sized bed in the master bedroom. He held her in his arms and kissed her forehead. They’d been sleeping together like this for weeks. But he had never asked for anything more than a kiss.

Annie knew it was time. Her body was ready, and her soul was aching to be at one with him. She ran her fingers over his skin, down his back, and over the rise of his ass under his boxer shorts. He stirred beside her and held her more tightly, letting out a low groan. She tilted her head up to him and caught his mouth with a kiss. Her lips parted, and her tongue darted out to meet his. The hot rush of desire swept over her, and he pressed his leg between hers. She gasped as his mouth consumed hers.

“I want you,” he breathed. “I need you. I need to make you mine.”

“I need you too,” she whispered.

“Are you sure you’re ready?”

“I've been waiting for this all my life.”

Dylan kissed her cheeks as he slid on top of her. She wrapped her arms around his waist, loving the feeling of his body pressed close to hers. It was as if she had been waiting all her life to feel this way. To feel whole and complete, at home with someone else. Their bodies were perfectly matched, and everything about him felt like it had been made just for her.

All those months ago when they'd first met, she had felt the same. But she didn't know how to explain it. She didn't know what she
