Logan (Chosen Champions #1) - Macy Blake Page 0,58

got it bad for Bailey and is pissed Bailey is with you instead of him.”

Logan growled loudly enough that it drew his team’s attention. Randy still remained oblivious.

“That was weird,” Ashley said.

“Better that than going down there and putting him through the floor,” Logan countered.

“Good point. He really hurt Bailey’s feelings the morning after… um, you know. That first morning when you left without actually leaving a note, like an asshole. I mean, who texts that?”

Logan frowned and glanced at the group on the mats. Bailey stood in front with Aleron, and Randy was definitely giving him an appraising look Logan didn’t like.

“I made that right,” Logan explained. “We talked about it.”

“I know,” Ashley said. “Bails tells me everything.”

“You’re a good friend.”

“Yeah, well, he is too. But Logan, you’ve gotta be careful with him. He’s more fragile than you know, and I’m worried about how into you he is.”

Logan’s chest tightened. “He’s not fragile.”

Aleron and Bailey demonstrated one of the choke-hold maneuvers they’d learned at their first training session, and then Bailey turned to Aleron with a beaming smile when he successfully broke out of it.

Logan’s heart skipped a beat.

“Just be careful, Logan. Because if you hurt him, I will hurt you.”

His wolf didn’t appreciate the threat. Logan turned to her, and she crossed her arms over her chest.

“Glare all you want, tough guy. We take care of Bailey, and if things don’t work out, fine. But you don’t fuck around with his heart.”

“I won’t.”

“Good. Now, if I were you, I’d stay up here and keep an eye out. Randy’s going to try to talk to Bailey. I can feel it in my bones. And Bailey doesn’t know how to turn someone down nicely.”

Bailey wouldn’t have to. Logan would have no problems putting the pup in his place, and if his predatory looks toward Bailey were any indication, Randy really needed to be put in his place.

“You know,” Logan said, turning to her with a gleam in his eyes, “I’m worried about your wrist after that bad fall earlier. Why don’t I go down and help out instead?”

Ashley met his gaze with a feral grin that Logan returned. “Oh, this is going to be good. I’m going to go… um, get a bag of ice for my wrist. It is a little sore, now that you mention it.”

It wasn’t sore at all, but it was a good excuse.

Logan went downstairs and waited for Aleron to finish his talk. His team hadn’t even flinched at the newcomers’ arrival. Of course, the fact that they’d all heard his talk with Heather meant they already knew what he wanted them to do.

It wasn’t necessarily a bad thing to have more people surrounding Bailey who knew how to handle themselves. Logan’s heart skipped a beat, and Scout looked over at him with a puzzled frown.

So did Randy.

Logan simply smiled and moved closer to the other wolves. “Scout, I’ll pair up with Randy.”

Randy swallowed, finally picking up on the fact that he had a very annoyed alpha only a few feet away.

Logan’s smile widened.

“Let’s see what you’ve got, Officer.”

Randy’s eyes narrowed, and he darted forward, attempting to sucker punch Logan. Logan dodged, batting Randy’s arm to the side with one hand while jabbing him in the ribs with the other.

“It’s not always about breaking out of holds,” Logan said to the group. “Sometimes your attacker is thinking with his emotions. Which means not at all.”

Randy lunged forward again, this time attempting to put his arms around Logan. Logan kicked him in the leg, intentionally missing his knee, but not by much. Randy stumbled and spun wildly around. Logan kicked him in the ass, sending him splaying onto the mats.

He put his knee into Randy’s back a second later and leaned over. “If you try to intimidate one of mine again, I will put you in the ground. Do you hear me, pup?”

Randy nodded.

“You know not to mess with anyone who belongs to an alpha. Do better.”

Logan moved away, and Randy climbed slowly to his feet. He looked pissed but in control. And he didn’t even glance in Bailey’s direction.

“Where were we?” Logan asked.

Aleron rolled his eyes at Logan’s display but continued the lesson.

Bailey, on the other hand, moved closer to him. He crossed his arms over his chest and glared. “Ashley is a tattletale.”

“Your point?”

Bailey’s eyes narrowed. “I can take care of myself.”

“You think I’m not well aware of that?”

Bailey poked him in the chest. “I know you’re aware of that. Also, thanks for not
