The fear must be getting to him, because he would swear he was being watched.

Logan

The punching bag didn’t stand a chance against the flurry of blows Logan landed on it. His fists flew at a speed that would be hard for a human to track, and even though both the bag and its support was reinforced, it cracked under the strain of his brutal attack.

Logan paused and stretched his hands, releasing some of the tension from his knuckles. The rest of him, on the other hand, remained coiled and ready to strike. His fury got the best of him once more, and he struck the bag with another blow.

It ended up being the death strike. Sand and sawdust poured from the bag onto the training room floor, infuriating Logan further.

“Spar,” Gideon snapped from the doorway of the room. He charged forward, and only Logan’s training had him rolling out of the way in time to avoid a roundhouse kick aimed at his head.

He leaped to his feet in time to dodge the first blows from Gideon’s fists. Lucky for him, Gideon had padded them up for the sparring session, and as if to prove he was out to kick Logan’s ass, he’d even removed his nose ring. As much training in martial arts as he had, Gideon had him beat.

The vampire clansmen were known as fierce warriors. They were legendary swordsmen, but their training didn’t stop there. Vampires trained extensively in multiple martial arts, and they only progressed in their training when they’d become experts.

Gideon rained down blow after blow on him, using both fists and feet in a multipronged attack that required Logan’s full and complete attention. He managed to get in a few hits of his own, but if their fight had a referee, it wouldn’t be him who’d won it. When he was sweating, aching, and out of breath, Gideon finally slowed and took a cautious step back.

“Better yet, or you need another round?”

Logan paused and actually thought about the question before answering. He was still angry. Furious, really. But he’d regained some of his control. “Better for now.”

“I’ll take it. Want to tell me what happened?”

Logan ground his teeth together before biting out his answer. “It got another girl last night.”

Gideon froze. “What?”

“Down the street. Less than a block away from where we were.”

“That’s impossible.”

“She’s in the hospital. The oracle is working on getting her records, as well as the police report.”

Gideon didn’t move. Much like Logan when he’d found out, he had to process their failure to do the one thing they’d been sent out the night before to prevent. “I don’t understand.”

Logan understood the defeated yet furious tone. It captured his feelings on the matter completely. “Neither do I, but we’re going to find this thing, and then we’re going to kill it.”

Gideon stood with his legs shoulder-width apart and his hands clenched together behind his back. Logan recognized the stance and realized the vampire’s fury matched his own, even if he had better control over himself than Logan did at the moment.

“We clearly do not have information on the full capabilities of incubi.” Gideon’s clipped words were as tightly furious as Logan’s. It somehow helped that his teammate was as deeply affected by their failure.

Logan took another deep breath, mimicking the technique Gideon used, before replying. “I thought the same. I want to go back down there and see what we can find out.”

“Are you sure that won’t draw too much attention?”

Logan scowled. It would absolutely draw unwelcome attention. A second later his phone dinged with a message. He opened it to read a new contact card. William Randell, and a phone number.

“William Randell? Who the fuck is that?”

Gideon groaned. “Pretty sure that’s Officer Randell from last night. You remember, the dude bro cop who wanted to know if we are supernatural CIA agents and how he could be one too?”

Logan resisted the urge to bang his head against the wall. “Apparently the oracle thinks he’s our in. Of course, the oracle didn’t have the pleasure of Randell’s company last night.”

Ding.

“Priorities. Call him.”

“Did you sleep at all?” Gideon asked.

Logan didn’t reply. Instead, he glanced up at the camera in the corner of the training room. “Do you think it’s wise to insert ourselves into the humans’ investigation? It’ll look suspicious.”

Ding.

“He’s a wolf. Use that to your advantage.”

“The oracle has a point,” Gideon said after reading the message over Logan’s shoulder. “Officer Randell was extremely impressed that you are an alpha. You could work
