Liar (Madison Kate #2) - Tate James Page 0,36

inch and, even then, blocked the room with his body. His gorgeous, naked body. Clearly the boys had no qualms about seeing each other naked. A fact I'd file away for later.

"Dude, seriously?" Kody sounded disgusted. Not about seeing his friend's dick—and there was no way he’d missed it—but more about the whole just-fucked-someone look Steele was rocking. Or so it seemed to me. "You're unbelievable. MK is never going to forgive you when she hears about this. What the fuck happened to all that shit you told me the other day?"

"Bro, let it drop," Steele snapped. "I'll be out in five minutes. Go and check the gym or something. She’s started going down there to work out when she can't sleep." I tensed. How the fuck had he known that? Not that I'd been doing it a lot... but sometimes when the nightmares were particularly bad, I'd found it useful to just run it off.

"I know that," Kody growled, "but she does that way before dawn."

Steele gave a shrug. "It's the holidays. Maybe she slept in."

Kody made another angry sound but stomped away, and Steele carefully closed the door once more.

"Better be quick," he said when I tossed the sheet back once more. "Go jump in your shower or something before he comes back up."

There was no time to argue or question how the fuck they knew what I'd been doing in the middle of the night, so I quickly pulled my pajamas back on and dashed across the corridor to my own bedroom. Not before Steele grabbed me for one last lingering kiss, though.

Inside my own bathroom, I cranked the water and stripped down in front of the mirror. My lips were red and puffy from Steele's kisses, and there was a definite pinkness to my left butt cheek. I loved it.

Grinning to myself, I stepped under the spray and soaked my hair thoroughly. I'd just lathered shampoo into my long, pink tresses when I heard my bedroom door open, and angry, arguing voices traveled through to me.

"...see?" I heard Steele say in a mocking way. "Did you even check her bathroom? Fucking hell, bro. Wake up."

"Wait, what?" Kody sounded next-level confused, and a stab of guilt hit me. Maybe I should have just come clean about the fact that I'd spent the morning in Steele's bed. But then... no. Kody needed to earn my trust back. Archer needed to earn it full stop. Until they started sharing, I'd be keeping my cards close to my chest.

"I was sure she wasn't in there," I faintly heard Kody say. "Sorry, dude. I was just... I dunno. I came in to wake her up and she wasn't here and I freaked out. I thought she'd finally run away."

There was a pause, and I thought maybe they'd left my bedroom. But then...

"Even if she did, we'd find her," Archer remarked in a gruff voice. I startled; I hadn't known he was out there with the other guys. "I made sure of that."

Their voices grew quieter, and I was unable to make out Kody’s and Steele's responses, but the damage was done. I finished my shower with a sick feeling in my stomach, turning Archer's words over in my mind.

By the time I stepped out of the bathroom, I'd only drawn one logical conclusion.

Those fuckers had planted a tracker on me somehow.

12

Archer had told Steele they wanted to leave in fifteen... and it'd been way longer than that by the time I’d made it back to my room and finished my shower. Nonetheless, I made sure to take as long as possible getting myself dressed, even stopping every now and then to randomly scroll social media and watch stupid home-hairdressing videos.

By the time I emerged from my bedroom, I'd made up my mind.

Archer D'Ath was full of shit.

He'd known I could hear them talking in my bedroom. He hadn't made any attempt to lower his voice. He’d wanted me to hear him, meaning there was a pretty good chance there was no tracking device at all and he just wanted me to be paranoid.

Sneaky motherfucker.

Coming into the kitchen I found the three of them sitting around the island with the remains of a pancake breakfast on the plates in front of them. All three sets of eyes seemed to follow me like laser-beams as I grabbed out a coffee mug and set about making coffee—again.

"I thought you were going somewhere today?" I asked, breaking the awkward-as-fuck silence that seemed to be clogging
