on my arms, “you’re the one who’s jealous. Haven’t we had this conversation before?” He pulls back to look at me. “Just admit, you don’t like other women looking at me.”

I cock a brow. “Should I be jealous of her?”

“Fuck no.” He shudders as if the thought of Heidi in that way gives him the heebie jeebies. “Doesn’t matter if she has the hots for me, there’s no way I’d go there.”

“Is it just because she’s your sister’s best friend? Would you go for her if she wasn’t?”

His frown is back in place. “No. First, she’s a little young for me. And second,” he wiggles his eyebrows, “I’ve got my eye on someone way more pleasing.”

Releasing a light laugh, I roll to my toes. “Good answers,” I say before pressing a kiss against his lips.

It was meant to be a simple peck, but of course, Enzo has other ideas. His arms tighten around me, lifting me off the floor. His groan is deep and rumbly as he gives me a kiss that rivals all kisses, right here in front of everyone.

I couldn’t give two shits at the moment. He tastes too good for me to care who sees.

A moment later, I’m back on my feet and staring up at him dazedly. He makes my mind go haywire.

“Forget about Heidi and what you think she feels. I want to enjoy the rest of the night with you in my arms before I take you home and slowly peel that amazing dress from your body.”

I do the only thing a girl in my position could do.

“Okay,” I say breathlessly.

Chapter Ten

ENZO

A couple of hours later, I leave Alaina with Juliet and Nikki to say goodbye while I go on the hunt for James and Hudson. I ignore the people who try to get my attention as I walk the outskirts of the dance floor. The faster I say goodbye to my friends, the sooner I can get Alaina alone.

Finding James and Hudson standing with Grant, Gray, and Grady, I beeline for them. Hudson’s jaw is clenched while the other four wear smiles.

I come to a stop between James and Grant. “What the hell are you fuckers doing?”

“Ribbing Hudson,” James answers. “He’s oh-for-three with Nikki tonight.”

Brow raised, I look from Hudson, back over my shoulder to Nikki, who’s shooting daggers at Hudson’s back.

“From the look in her eyes, I’d say he’s more than oh-for-three. I’d say he’s royally fucked.” I glance at Hudson. “You two got something going on?”

“We have history,” he grunts vaguely. I’m surprised the beer bottle in his hand is still intact from the way he’s white knuckling it.

“You might want to lay off her,” Grady advises. “She looks about two seconds away from planting the heel of her shoe up your ass.”

Another grunt.

“Big news that you left Phenix,” Grady comments, taking a pull from the beer in his hand. “James said you’ll still be writing the songs for them.”

I nod. “That’s right. I may not want to perform with the band, but I can’t imagine never writing songs again.”

“You ever want to step away from the label they’re with, you should talk with my wife, Dylan. She’s a songwriter. Has a pretty sweet deal with the company she’s with.”

“She used to write for Jett Kroger, right?”

At the mention of the singer’s name, Grady’s jaw clenches. I heard that Dylan and Jett used to be a thing a couple of years back, before she finally wised up and left his sorry ass. The guy was a hot-head and caused a lot of problems for the label he was with. I haven’t heard anything through the grapevine lately, so there’s no telling what he’s been up to.

Apparently, he’s a sore subject for Grady, which makes me wonder what all went down between the three.

“Yes,” Grady growls then shakes his head at whatever thoughts are on his mind.

“She’s good,” I comment, meaning the compliment.

The pissed off vibe coming from him a moment ago fades with his grin. “Yeah, she is. So damn proud of her. I can’t imagine the music you two would make if you worked together.”

“I’m good where I am at the moment, but I’ll keep it in mind for the future.”

I turn to James. “I’m headed out. Today was great. I’m happy for you and Juliet.”

“I’m lucky to have found her.” His grin is full of pride as he looks over at his wife.

“Looks like James isn’t the only one getting lucky tonight.” I follow Gray’s line of sight to
