Kansas (Ruthless Kings MC Atlantic City #2) - K.L. Savage Page 0,28

weight of his body against it pulls when he is raised into the air.

“I offered you a cigarette, man,” Decay tries to raise his voice louder than the screams. “For this purpose. See? I’m nicer than these guys. Want to know why?” Decay asks.

“Just ki—kill me,” the man stutters.

“In due time. I want to see you dance first.” Decay presses his finger against the trigger of the blow torch. The fire comes out so hot, it’s blue.

“What?” The man’s eyes round as Decay slides under him.

He hovers the torch just below the man’s feet. Not enough to burn, but enough to make it very hot and uncomfortable. Our captive begins to wiggle and tries to lift his legs higher to get away from the hot flame.

“You dance so beautifully,” Decay admires, then presses the torch closer to his feet until the smell of burnt flesh begins to fill the space.

Warden, Bane, and Colt chuckle.

“Colt?” I ask the man to take a step forward to join in.

“Don’t mind if I do,” he says, taking the pipe from my hand. Without missing a beat, he slams the rod between the man’s legs.

“Oooh,” all of us groan as if we feel the pain. Nothing hurts as bad as a kick in the balls. Not even fire under the feet.

He pukes again, and this time there’s blood in it.

Having this tarp down really made the difference. Cleanup is going to be a breeze.

Colt throws the pipe back to me, and I twirl it like a baton, then place it right under the guy’s chin to make him look at me. “This is what happens to pieces of shit like you. The world’s a better place without liars, cheaters, and abusers. You won’t be missed.”

“My daughter—” the man chokes on his own blood.

“—Will forget you even existed,” I finish for him and toss the steel rod onto the ground, then reach behind me and grab my gun from my waistband. “Imagine what you know being in… Kansas, and then imagine being here. It’s a lot different, right?”

He nods, grunting in pain.

I press the barrel right against his heart and cock the gun. “Well, you aren’t in fucking Kansas anymore.” The gunshot rings out. His body falls limp when a chunk of his chest goes missing.

“That was fucking awesome,” Bane says, peeking in from the other side of the hole, staring at me with… I don’t know what that is. Respect? Admiration?

“Get him down, clean the hook, and roll him up. We’re going to throw him in the ocean next with a few weights,” I order, pulling a joint from my pocket and snagging Decay’s torch.

“Hey,” he gripes.

I inhale deep and hand him his toy back while I relax. Fuck, that feels good. They roll the body in the tarp like a burrito, and while I watch, the only thing I can think about is Violet. Would she approve of this?

Not many women would.

She might be better off without me because I don’t plan on changing. Approval isn’t needed in this way of life, it’s just a bonus if it’s offered.

I check on Wolf and he’s passed out with an empty bottle on the floor. Maybe I’m better off without her anyway. I don’t want to end up like Wolf.

Half dead and barely alive.

If love hurts that bad, I don’t know if I fucking want it.

We’ve been moved to other rooms in the clubhouse now and are no longer in the medical wing. What’s even better is that we have our own space. I don’t have to share with my sisters, which is a good thing since the thought of being around Veronica right now makes me feel a bit murderous. I need space. I need time to think about who my parents were, and if I really knew anything about them at all.

The long family trips we always took, I’m starting to realize it wasn’t about family time, but a job. We traveled up and down the east coast throughout the year. We were homeschooled by our Mom, so we had more time to do things together as a family. But if what Boomer said is true, then it was really so Dad could deliver his drugs.

We had a lot of money. A big house, boats, skis, vacation homes, and I never questioned it. I just thought Dad was the best lawyer around.

I know they loved us. We had the best parents. They never lacked in love, but how can I forgive them for being
