Just a Positive Pregnancy Test - London Casey Page 0,25

walked out of the office.

“Let her cool off,” Tyler said.

“Fuck off,” I growled.

Olivia clapped her hands together. “Stop. This. Now.” She clapped again. “This is unfair to Mila. Her brother and the man she loves are fighting each other? Over what? There is not one good reason you could give me right now. And of all the people… Tyler… is this how you’re going to be the entire time I’m pregnant? What a miracle this all is. Mila and I pregnant at the same time…”

“You’re pregnant?” I asked.

“Nobody told you?” Olivia asked.

“No,” I said. “Mila and I didn’t do much talking…”

I heard Tyler growl.

I looked at him. “You’re going to be a father again?”

“Yeah, I am,” Tyler said.

“So we’re going to have babies around the same time together?”

“You’re not having babies,” Olivia said. “Mila and I are. So you two better figure this out and stop acting like assholes!”

That became her parting words.

Crosby left too. Laughing at us.

I kept looking at Tyler. “Pregnant, huh?”

“That’s right,” Tyler said. “You okay with that?”

“What the hell do I care?”

“Just making sure you didn’t think I was stealing your thunder.”

“What does that even mean?” I asked. “I just can’t believe it. Both of them pregnant at the same time. That’s… that’s kind of cool… I think.”

“You think? Let me tell you something, Silas. I had to watch the look on my sister’s face when the family found out. I went with her to the first ultrasound too.”

“She didn’t tell me,” I said. “So don’t even start with that shit. Got it?”

Tyler backed off. He leaned against a wall and took a deep breath.

I did the same.

We stood almost shoulder to shoulder.

After a minute of complete silence, I turned my head to look at him again.

“Are you going to help me give your sister her dream house?”

Tyler looked at me. “Are you going to stick around?”

“Where the fuck am I going to go, Tyler?”

“You seemed to have left easily before.”

“I was told to leave. Remember that?”

“You could have stayed and proven yourself.”

“Proven what? Huh? I didn’t want to cause family problems.”

Tyler laughed. “What are you doing now, Silas? You got Mila pregnant.”

“So her being pregnant is a problem?”

“I don’t know, is it? She’s living at the inn. You’re bouncing around random cities, doing who knows what…”

I pointed at Tyler as anger bubbled again. “Don’t you ever think that. And don’t you ever suggest it. I would never hurt her, Tyler. I would never do something like that to her. Ever.”

“I hope not,” Tyler said. “For the record, we’ve got a great family attorney and know how to fight.”

“Yeah? You use lawyers to finish fights? Makes sense. Since you can’t finish them in person.”

“You fucking prick,” Tyler said.

I stepped back and nodded.

Tyler moved toward me.

I guess we were just getting ready for round two.

We grabbed each other’s shirts and waited for the other to throw the first punch.

Before that could happen, the office door opened again and in came Zeke.

This time, he had backup with him.

That was in the form of a very large hammer.

He brought it up over his head. “Done yet?”

Tyler and I pushed away from each other.

“Sit the hell down,” Zeke roared. “Both of you.”

Tyler and I both looked at each other.

Zeke took a couple steps, the hammer in the air.

Oh, shit…

Both Tyler and I jumped back to the wall.

Our backs hit the wall and we froze.

“Now sit,” Zeke ordered us.

Without hesitation, Tyler and I dropped to the floor.

My ass hit with a thud.

“My turn to talk now,” Zeke said. He lowered the hammer and pointed it at me first. “You got my granddaughter pregnant. I hope you realize that.”

“I do,” I said. “She told me last night when I got back into town.”

“You’re out on the road, playing your guitar, huh? Drinking a lot? Flirting with pretty women?”

“Not a chance in hell,” I said. “No women. No way. I would never do that to Mila. To your granddaughter. Ever. I swear on my life. I love her. I love her with all my heart.”

“Then you stick around no matter what the hell happens here, got that?” Zeke asked.

“Got it,” I said.

He moved the hammer toward Tyler. “You’re the oldest, Tyler. I’m well aware you carry a lot on your shoulders. But what the hell are you doing throwing punches with the father of Mila’s baby? What did he do that was so bad? Huh?”

“Zeke…”

“No,” Zeke said. “I’m your grandfather, Tyler. I want an answer. Why was Silas here?”

“I came here to-”

Zeke looked
