Honor and Desire (Gold Sky #3) - Rebel Carter Page 0,86
and now, was to be her husband. She was in his arms, his ring was on her finger, and there wasn’t a place in the world Seylah wanted to be more than sitting on this lane, kissing August.
It seemed that August was of the same opinion and when he lifted her into his lap, Seylah was not surprised. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and she moaned when he deepened the kiss in a promise of what was to come, of what might have come if not for the exaggerated cough that broke them apart. They looked up to see all three of Seylah’s parents standing in the lane.
Her mother stood between her fathers, arms linked with theirs and gave her daughter a wink.
“Well, isn’t this just the sweetest thing.”
“Since when is our child being violated in public sweet?” Will asked with a pinched look on his face.
Forrest sighed at August. “Son, when you said you were going to ask her to marry you, this isn’t quite what we had in mind.”
August blushed and leapt to his feet pulling, Seylah up with him. “My apologies. I didn’t, ah, know you were coming home so soon.”
Will rubbed at his temples. “Good thing we did or you’d be makin’ us grandparents by now.”
Seylah flushed, and August glanced away, but said nothing.
Will’s eyes widened. “Did you—”
“Oh Daddy, stop.” Seylah rolled her eyes and linked her arm through August’s in a mirror of her parents' position.
“Come on, lets get home. The girls will be so happy to hear the good news!” Julie started marching forward, dragging her husbands behind her while Will, still spluttered, looked woefully behind him at Seylah.
“Will, move it!” Julie ordered.
“But that’s my little girl,” he protested, but was dragged along all the same by his wife and husband.
“Let her live her life,” Forrest supplied, and Will jabbed a finger at him.
“You are to blame for this.”
“For what?” Forrest wanted to know while Julie continued to drag the now bickering men forward.
“Your sisters won’t be any better,” August told her with a chuckle when he saw the mortified look on Seylah’s face.
“I know.”
“But that,” he said, bringing her hand up to his lips and pressing a kiss to her knuckles, “is what family does.”
She laughed and leaned her head against his shoulder, watching her parents continue to drag Will ahead, even as he shot desperate looks behind him. Her sisters would be in a tizzy over her news. They would love the ring, she knew. There would be no rest in the Wickes-Barnes household, not tonight.
“Yes, our family does it very well.” She glanced over at him, willing him to hear what she meant in that simple word: our. August had, in truth, always been hers and she his, and now with a wedding on the horizon, it would be official.
August’s eyes softened, and she knew he understood her meaning. He kissed her forehead. “Yes, yes they do, honey.”
Thank You!
I hope you enjoyed Honor and Desire!
Writing Seylah and August’s story felt surreal to me. Sharing it is a dream. I never intended to write a multi-generational series, but here we are. I am in love with the world of Gold Sky and hope that you’re ready to follow each of the Wickes-Barnes daughters in finding their HEA!
Florence’s story is next and she is a young woman who knows precisely what and who she wants. Florence’s love story is a MFM menage and pairs sweet and steamy for a perfectly romantic frontier adventure.
Thank you for reading the Gold Sky series. It means the world to share this with y’all.

Excerpt: Florence, Anselmo & Brendan’s Story
“That isn’t how that works. That isn’t how any of it works.”
“And why exactly not?” Florence asked, eyes moving from her reflection to her sister who stood behind her. She’d been painstakingly applying rouge to her cheeks. She paused, the small pot of rouge in one hand, her powder puff in the other, and raised an eyebrow at Delilah. Her older sister was looking none too pleased with her at the moment, which could be truly vexing.
