Honor and Desire (Gold Sky #3) - Rebel Carter Page 0,51

She had wanted this for so long and would take her fill from it before it was done. August, it seemed was of the same mind and she scarcely noticed when he swept her up against him setting her on the table behind her. He stepped into the space between her legs and threaded his fingers through her curly hair with one hand while the other dropped to the nape of her neck, the strength of his fingers there as reassuring weigh as they continued to kiss.

Lips and tongue moving together without any hint of tentativeness, this was no longer an exploration but a conquest conducted by the pair of them in perfect tandem.

August and she had always given and taken from the other in equal measure and they were no different in this aspect of their relationship. Kissing, was it seemed, no different to them than verbal sparring or shared laughter, and in this endeavor like the rest they participated in enthusiastically and without censor. It was only when they were left gasping that they parted and Seylah blinked at the stars that swam before her.

“August…” Her chest was heaving, heart thumping like a runaway horse from what they had just done. The fear she’d almost let hold her back was gone, in its place was exhilaration.

This was right. This was true.

This should have always been.

August pulled back and looked up at Seylah. Her seat on the table top boosted her above the big man between her thighs and he shook his head. He dropped his hands from her face to her shoulders, and Seylah leaned into his touch.

“I shouldn’t have waited all those years. We missed this for no reason but fear,” he murmured. His fingers moved lower and he flattened his hands until they molded to her sides, the heat of his palms seared her through the fabric of her dress.

Seylah reached for him, her fingers burying themselves in his hair. Her fingernails scraped his scalp and she arched closer until they were pushed close once more, bodies flush to the other. August’s head tilted back, his chin grazing against her and making her breath come short from the slight touch. Already her body was on fire, her hands greedy for another touch, her mouth desperate for another taste.

“Are you still scared?” she asked tugging on his golden strands between her fingers.

He gave a slight shake of his head. “No,” he whispered, eyes drifting closed. “Are you?” He asked her, leaning his forehead against her breastbone.

Seylah wrapped her arms around him, pulling him tight against her. “No.” She smiled and squeezed him tighter. “No, I’m not.”

There was no going back to the way it had been. It was not an option, not when she knew what his lips tasted like or how it felt to have him pressed close, the feel of him between her thighs would never leave her as one of her most treasured remembrances.

She had never been happier.

Chapter 10

Seylah was busy, resetting the firing pin of her revolver the next morning. Her hands were busy, but her mind was busier, thoughts of the previous day and her time with August had turned her mind into a whirlwind of memories. The way his hands had felt on her, the heat of his body against hers, the way he’d felt between her thighs, the taste of him.

A sigh escaped Seylah and she grinned, looking down at her work. She was nearly done with her task, and if she were lucky today would be full of her indulging in one of her favorite past times with one of her favorite people.

Target shooting and August Leclaire.

Hours alone with August, hours alone where they were free to relax, to talk, to...revisit the previous day’s encounter. Seylah was not opposed to such a proclivity.

“What’s put such a smile on your face?” Florence asked, sailing into the room with all the pomp of a queen. She was dressed in an extravagant gown of crimson silk and velvet. Her hair was done up with flowers and ribbons, the effect was lovely, if out of place for day-to-day affairs in Gold Sky.

Seylah picked up a rag and wiped her hands clean of the oil her work had left on them. “Where are you going in that outfit?”

Florence stopped pinching her cheeks in the mirror. “Out.”

“Yes, but where and with whom?”

Flo held up a finger, eyes still on her reflection and said, “That still remains a mystery, but I know they will be lovely.”

“They?”
