short messages, concerned mainly with my health and the baby’s growth, not that there’s much to say. Or I tell him how things are going with the remodeling.

And I send him updates on my lessons with his Grandma. There’s always a story to tell there.

The kitchen is all fixed up and looks really nice. Grandma Narvi and I worked on it together. She’s always here a few days a week. We spend time going over the original Heimdall plans and planning out what to fix next and how, then we message and vid chat with the local historical society to keep them in the loop. I’m so pleased with how the remodel is turning out. It now looks like a modernized version of the original design. The Heimdall kitchen design was much more closed off from the rest of the house, but Grandma Narvi talked the society into allowing us to blow out a whole wall to install a gleaming, spacious island. It’s wonderful.

I even had Methone, Bestla and Grandma Narvi here for dinner with me last night. I can finally have company. And the kitchen is so pretty it almost inspires me to learn how to cook. Almost.

I messaged Berg about the plans ahead of time and got his okay. He was easy to convince, and he even took the time to come up with a couple of really good suggestions. I almost felt like he was here with us.

Next week we’re going restore the enormous fireplace in the front room. I’m super excited.

I clean up my breakfast and then I take the lift up to the attic. This is where I’ve set up shop. I’ve got a space right underneath a dragon eye window all cleared for myself, with a work table and a desk. I love it here.

Riley likes to tease me about it. She thinks it’s crazy that I love all these old, dusty objects, but I do. She’s pointed out that I could take over one of the empty bedrooms on the second floor as my office, but instead I choose a corner of the dusty third floor?

But there’s something really, really charming about this attic. It’s not a normal, unfinished space. Once I installed some task lights, opened the windows and let in the air and sunlight, I could see that the beams of the roof are shaped and arranged like the teeth of a dragon. The window is one of the eyes. It’s not spooky either, just…bold. A really fun, creative space. I brought in a bot to build some cabinets so I could store projects I’m working on. I’ve also now brought over all my specialized tools, paint and equipment I’d collected over the last few years. I had it stored at Bestla’s house, but I finally have a place for all of my things arrayed around me, and I feel at peace. This will probably only be my office for the rest of the year, and I’ll have to eventually move elsewhere, but I really like it. It brings a smile to my face. This house is Bergelmir’s, but I feel like this special little spot is mine.

I think I’m doing a decent job of cataloguing the artifacts I’ve found. I’m just disappointed because at one point I could’ve sworn I saw a wonderful baby crib in a corner, behind a crate. But then the next day it wasn’t there anymore. Am I going crazy with babies on the brain? Maybe.

Today I don’t have any surrogacy appointments, and no Grandma Narvi so I use my time wisely and dig deep into my antiquing. I’ve rejoined my antiquing forum and told them all about the project I’m working on. Berg said it was okay for me to upload any vids I’d made, so I did. The reaction is so great, I might start an Intelgram about this. Riley is encouraging me to also start a real shopping channel, which I think is a great idea.

I crack my knuckles and get to work.

Finally, hours later, I stop to eat and nap. And then I wake up and get ready to join in on a Bunko group organized by the neighborhood mom’s group.

How did I get talked into this?

It’s being held at Sherkis’s house. I don’t know this female, but Riley seems to really like her. My friend has been trying to get me out of the house to meet up with her moms group for weeks now. I’ve been avoiding it because I
