His Human (The New Neighbors #2) - M.A. Innes Page 0,3
started easing lower on my leg and I had to fight back the urge to groan in frustration.
I realized I hadn’t hidden that very well when he laughed. “Giving you pleasure in public is not deemed appropriate in your culture.”
Shit.
“Yeah, but logic sucks sometimes.” I wasn’t sure if he’d understand the slang, but when he made another quiet laughing sound, I knew he got it.
“But I cannot have us incarcerated, so we will have to wait until later to continue our interaction.” From the tone of his voice, he knew what he was doing to me and he was going to use that to his advantage to make sure I showed up for dinner.
It was a bit devious, but I liked that in a guy.

It was fortunate that when one managed to catch the attention of a human, they focused well on pleasure and food-based activities. The somewhat vague promise of combining the two seemed highly anticipatory to the small human. It was also fortunate that giving them the pleasure their bodies and minds seemed to crave produced such captivating scents and pheromones. They were a fascinating species.
Chapter 2
Trip
“He’s buying me steak. You have to come help me.” I might’ve sounded just a bit hysterical, but my mind was racing in a thousand different directions. “I don’t know what to wear.”
I knew Cameron wasn’t taking me seriously enough when he laughed. “Who’s buying you steak? Do you mean like a date or did some guy buy your groceries? I mean, prices are high enough that it might be a good way to get a guy’s attention, but—”
“You’re deliberately trying to make me insane. Stop that.” Rushing through the door of my townhouse, my eyes darted around the space.
Was it clean enough for him to see?
Would he want to see it?
The way he flirted said he was going right for dominant and sexy, but I might not have been reading him correctly. “He’s going to like dominating me, right? They look vanilla, but from what you’ve been saying they just look that way and have a hidden kinky side like that ice cream with the core of chocolate or salted caramel, right?”
His snickers weren’t helping my nerves any.
“Shit. Just get over here. I don’t even know if I need to wear my tight jeans that show off my ass or if I need the stretchy ones. How far do tentacles stretch? Stop coughing and help me.” He needed to be a more supportive friend.
When Cameron could breathe, he jumped in again. “Who are you going out with?”
“Grocery store guy. Haven’t you been following along?” He needed to pay more attention.
“I’m not psychic, crazy twink.” He paused for a moment, giving me time to empty out my pockets on the table by the door before I started racing upstairs.
“I should get a shower, right? He seems like the type—”
Cameron interrupted me before I could finish my question. “You’re saying one of the new guys asked you out? And he seems Dom-ish?”
I must have mumbled something close to yes as I took the stairs two at a time because he started laughing again. “Then yeah, I’d get very clean.”
Okay, at least my instincts had been right then.
“Did you guys fuck in the grocery store?” I wasn’t sure if he was teasing or not, but he started laughing when I answered.
“No, but we came close in the parking lot. Fucking tentacles, man. Oh my god, why didn’t you tell me they felt like that?” I should’ve asked more questions.
He barked out a laugh again as I hurried into my bathroom and started stripping. “I told you about their lightning rod tentacles. What else should I have told you?”
“Oh, that’s right.” I stopped, half out of my shirt. “How could I have forgotten about that?”
“Brain damage from too much Drano fumes?” He thought he was so funny, but he’d just given me more to think about.
“Do you think he lightnings on the first date? Would he think I’m a slut if I asked for it on the first date? What if he doesn’t know about it? Shit. What if he’s never had sex with a human?” I could have kept going, but Cameron spoke again.
“First, we’re not that hard to figure out. Second, if he hadn’t looked up human sexuality and human dating, he wouldn’t have approached you. If this is the same guy you mentioned before, he’s definitely researched a few things.” Cameron’s confidence had my heartbeat slowing down to a safer level.
“Okay, that’s
