His Apprehensive Mate - Brea Alepou Page 0,62
Cali had taken down the alpha, it was only right that Huning Prowl and Bliss Pride have all rights over the pack.
“That is fine with us. We never wanted the pack lands or the members,” Dezi said.
“Eh, this is a lot of territory. Is Yovan really prepared to take it over?” Hodge asked.
Gev squared his shoulders. “Yes, our alpha is more than capable.”
There was a moment of silence before Hodge shrugged. “Okay.”
“Let Yovan know that I will be in touch later.”
With that they left the Vast/Blaze Pack lands. Kenny got in the backseat of Logan’s car, his mate in his arms and Ava next to him. Indigo got into the car as well, taking the front seat. Logan looked exhausted as he got behind the wheel.
“Let me drive. You’re too tired,” Indigo said.
Kenny expected Logan to fight, but Indigo reached over and placed a gentle hand on Logan’s face, and Logan leaned into the touch for a brief second before he yanked away. His jaw tight with tension, he said nothing as he got back out of the car. He slammed the door, and Indigo sighed. Kenny said nothing as he watched Indigo get out of the car. They didn’t speak to each other as they switched. Logan got into the passenger seat and turned toward the window after buckling in. Indigo glanced over to Logan as if he wanted to say something but just started the car instead. There was seriously something there.
On the road back home, Ava started dozing off, and Kenny reached out for her before she hit the window. He leaned her against him, and she snuggled closer. It was such a shifter trait, the need for human touch. Kenny wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t shift in the next few months. The closer children got to shifting and meeting their animal counterparts, the more traits they started to show.
Kenny’s snow leopard was content to have their mate in their arms and their child soundly asleep next to them, and Kenny finally relaxed a little.
Morgan blinked a few times, squinting against the too-bright lights. It was déjà vu all over again. The room was all too familiar, and he breathed in scents that settled his wolf. He was safe and he was home. He was where his mate was. A laugh of pure joy bubbled up out of him as he lay in the bed.
“Hey, Piglet,” Kenny said.
Morgan stopped laughing and turned his head to find Kenny sitting next to him. His grey eyes were full of concern. Morgan flexed his fingers a few times with the urge to reach out to his mate. He didn’t have to because in the next second, Kenny was touching him, cupping his face and bringing their lips together in a passionate kiss that made Morgan’s heart sing with happiness.
Kenny pulled back, but barely, their lips a breath away from each other.
“I thought I almost lost you,” Kenny confessed.
Morgan closed his eyes because, in all honesty, he thought the same thing.
“Never do anything that crazy again,” Kenny said.
Morgan kissed Kenny. “I don’t plan on it.”
Kenny deepened the kiss. It was possessive and all consuming, everything Morgan needed.
“Let’s keep it PG-13 in here, please,” Logan said dryly as he walked into the room.
Kenny nipped at Morgan’s lips before backing away, and Morgan pulled the blanket up to cover half his face, knowing it was red. Logan made his way over to the bed.
“I need to check you over.”
Morgan sighed and let the blanket go. He felt fine, which was strange.
“How long have I been out?”
“Three days,” Logan answered.
“I don’t feel all that sore.”
It was weird; shifters healed fast, but Morgan had never had that much power being born a runt. His healing was closer to humans, but oddly he felt fine.
“Yeah, now that you’re a part of the pride, Dezi can force a little bit of our shared power down your way,” Logan said.
Morgan sat up. He might have felt fine, but he was still dizzy by the too-fast movement. Kenny was there steadying him.
“I thought we’d just talked about being reckless.”
Morgan breathed in through his nose and out through his mouth to avoid throwing up.
“Sorry.”
There was a knock at the door, and blue hair was the first thing Morgan saw. His lips curved up in a smile as Ava poked her head in.
“Can I come in?”
“Yes,” Morgan said right away.
She came in, her hands behind her back, her pale cheeks flushed pink. She pulled out a bouquet of pink roses
