His Apprehensive Mate - Brea Alepou Page 0,44
talked about it yet. He glanced over to his mate and caught Kenny staring at him with a big grin on his face.
Morgan’s face felt hot. There was no way Kenny had read his mind, right?
Glass shattering had all heads turning. Kash was staring at his stomach in astonishment.
“Kash, are you okay?” Dezi asked. He was already up and fawning over his mate.
“Uh—I’m pretty sure my water broke, or I spilled water on my pants and the ground.” He sounded strangely calm about it.
Everyone else, on the other hand, was standing up and looking around as if wondering what to do. Dezi looked five seconds from freaking out.
“Dezi, take Kash to the infirmary,” Logan instructed. He looked around the table, and his eyes landed on Morgan. “Come on, Morgan. I’ll need your help.”
“Me?” Morgan said in surprise.
Logan nodded. “It’s twins. Don’t worry, you won’t actually be delivering them or anything. Plus, it gives you something to look forward to.”
Morgan was pretty sure that the last part was supposed to be a joke, but he got up from the table. Kenny gave him an encouraging smile. Morgan took in measured breaths as he walked into the infirmary. Kash lay on the bed gold hair pulled back. He smiled at him, but something happened and his smile quickly turned into a grimace as he sucked in air through gritted teeth and groaned.
It lasted for a few seconds before he was exhaling.
“Not bad but definitely uncomfortable,” Kash said.
Logan came in with gloves and a face mask on.
“All right, let’s check and see how far along you are.”
“Make sure you have the monitor ready. He’s having twins, so you want to monitor that nothing goes wrong,” a female voice said over the phone.
“Kelsey, I’m sure Logan has this,” Kash stated.
“I would have been there this week, but we had our own crisis here. Mom is going to flip when she finds out the babies are here.”
“They aren’t here yet,” Kash shouted back.
The woman on the phone seemed unfazed by that fact.
“Can you two siblings stop bickering so I can focus on my job,” Logan said.
“Here, Morgan, hold this please.”
Logan passed Morgan the phone before going in between Kash’s legs.
“You don’t have to look, but lower the phone, please, so I can see,” Kelsey said.
“You know, I don’t know if I want my little sister seeing everything down there,” Kash said, his cheeks flushed.
“I’m a doctor. It’s different.”
Kash sighed. “Fine.”
Dezi ran his fingers through Kash’s hair. Morgan wasn’t sure if it was for Kash or to soothe Dezi.
Time ticked by. Contractions came and went, and they were getting closer, but an hour passed and Kash wasn’t dilated enough.
“Can I have some ice?” Kash asked.
“I’ll go get some,” Morgan said.
“Thank you,” Kash said.
Morgan left the room and made his way to the kitchen, grabbing a glass cup and filling it with ice chips. Morgan felt Kenny before he even turned around.
“Hey, Piglet.”
Morgan ran into Kenny’s arms and laid his head in the middle of Kenny’s chest.
“You’re okay?”
Morgan nodded. He wasn’t sure why, but he felt emotional, and it wasn’t even him giving birth.
“Yeah, just came out to get Kash some ice.”
“Is Mr. Kash okay?” Ava asked.
Morgan pulled back and smiled at his niece. “Yes, Logan is pretty sure it’ll be any moment now. I better go get these ice chips back to him.” Morgan laughed. “He is surprisingly calm about everything.”
Kenny pulled him back in for a kiss.
“Maybe it will be you in the future?”
“Um—” Was Kenny saying what Morgan was hoping he was saying?
“Morgan,” Logan shouted.
Morgan didn’t have time to question Kenny. He raced out of the kitchen, past the living room, and down the hall to the infirmary.
“Sorry it took me so long.”
Kash was no longer lying in the bed. Instead he was squatting on the floor with Dezi behind him and supporting him.
“You got this, Kitten,” Dezi cheered on.
Morgan sat the cup of ice down; he didn’t think it was needed anymore. Logan was crouched down on the floor, Kelsey still on the phone instructing Logan.
“Make sure everything is set properly,” she said.
Morgan looked around. He felt useless standing there.
“Morgan, I need you to have the blanket ready for the baby. You are going to be my extra set of hands. There are gloves over by the door,” Logan said.
Morgan made his way over there and grabbed said gloves, as perspiration collected on his forehead. It was happening. Kash took in measured breaths, inhaling and exhaling as if he was in control. That
