His Apprehensive Mate - Brea Alepou Page 0,29
and that was okay when it was just them they had to look after. But with Ava, they needed to be stronger. Morgan conveyed his feelings and thoughts—it wasn’t like he could speak with his wolf, but they were the same yet different. The wolf uncurled itself, and they accepted the help of the alpha power Kash pushed through them. They couldn’t truly grasp it, but it was enough for Morgan to regain control of himself.
It was a lot faster with Kash’s help. Morgan blinked, taking even breaths as he regained composure. Ava was next to him in seconds.
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, sorry about that.”
Ava shook her head. “You don’t have to apologize.” She hugged him. The others convinced Ava that he was all right and to return to her game. The plate of brownies helped push her along.
“You know there is nothing wrong with being a virgin,” Logan pointed out.
Morgan’s face felt hot, but he cleared his throat. “Kenny said the same thing.”
“See?” Cole said.
“I bet he went all possessive when he found out,” Logan laughed.
Morgan dipped his chin to his chest, remembering how Kenny was when he told him.
“Oh, you know what we should do?” Cole said, standing up.
“If it’s an insane idea, we aren’t doing it,” Logan said.
“It’s a great idea.” Cole winked at them. “We should go to the sex store downtown.”
The kitchen went silent at Cole’s idea.
“I’ve never been, but I want to go,” Dillan said, jumping up and down.
Logan groaned.
“That sounds like fun, but I’m not going out like this, so I will stay back and watch Samantha and Ava,” Kash replied.
Dillan high-fived Cole.
“That means I have to go,” Logan muttered.
Kash laughed. “Yes, please keep track of Dillan and Cole.”
“Hey,” Cole shouted.
Kash shook his head. “You are just as wild as Dillan when you’re excited about something.” Kash looked to Morgan. “Morgan, just try and have fun. If you don’t buy anything, that’s fine.”
Morgan didn’t argue. He nodded, understanding he was going regardless. If he was being honest, he was curious. It took them less than ten minutes to get in the car and head downtown. The pride house was a little way outside of town but not a far drive.
They passed buildings Morgan had walked past plenty of times to go to work. They passed the bar he used to work at, and he kind of missed it. He’d mostly served humans, and it was easy. They didn’t care if he could shift multiple times, or if he was weak or strong. They only cared about the drinks he made them.
Midday they pulled into the parking lot of a small boutique looking shop. The Sweet Nothings was written in bright pink lettering.
“Uh, maybe I should stay in the car,” Morgan said.
“Not happening. I need help with these two,” Logan said.
Cole and Dillan were already out of the car and headed toward the door.
“See?” Logan rolled his eyes and followed them to the shop.
Morgan took in a deep breath and got out of the car. Inside, the store smelled of plastic and rubber. It was strange, but so was the fact that Morgan was in a sex store. He had no idea what to even look at.
Dillan and Cole were already running amok in the place.
“How can I help you?” an older lady with white hair done up in curls asked.
“Is this really edible?” Dillan asked, holding up a box that said gummy undies.
It couldn’t possibly mean what Morgan thought it did, and if it did, how in the hell did Dillan ask the lady with such a straight face and not an ounce of embarrassment?
She smiled at Dillan. “They sure are. They come in a variety of flavors. What’s your favorite kind of fruit?”
Dillan grinned. “I like grapes, but my mate likes watermelon.”
The woman didn’t bat an eye at the use of the word mate. She simply grinned and showed Dillan the right box to get.
“If any of you need help, I’m Gretta. I’ll just be right over here.”
Logan thanked her and turned to look at Morgan.
“Just look around. If you have any questions, just ask.”
Morgan swallowed audibly but nodded. He made his way down the aisles, browsing the magazines and then the videos.
“Oh, look at this,” Dillan exclaimed, running over to Morgan. “It vibrates, and it’s so small. Ms. Gretta said these aren’t for sale since they are open, but you can test out the vibration against your nose.” Dillan looked all too happy and not at all anxious.
“How do you do it?”
