Hello My Angel - Sue Brown Page 0,49

to take long at all. He sucked and licked until Cal gripped his hair so tightly he thought there was a good chance he would be bald by the end of it.

“Gonna come, Angel,” Cal said, his voice hoarse and needy.

Josh felt Cal’s shaft swell in his mouth and his balls draw up. He drew back just a fraction to let Cal’s seed coat his taste buds. Above him, Cal yelled, seemingly not caring who could hear him. Josh smiled. Was that Cal making a point to the detective in the conference room? He sucked Cal through his orgasm until Cal was slumped over him. Letting the softened shaft slip from his mouth, Josh sat back on his heels and looked up at Cal who stared back, his eyes glazed and face flushed.

“Fuck,” Cal slurred.

Josh grinned at him. Come-drunk Cal was always his favorite kind.

Cal raised a shaky hand and wiped his thumb over Josh’s lips. “Missed some.”

Josh sucked the thumb into his mouth and Cal closed his eyes again.

The heavy thump on the door made them both jump.

“Get dressed and get back to work,” Dave yelled.

“Coming,” Josh cooed. “Keep your panties on.”

“We’ve got a job to do, arseholes.”

“Haven’t you ever heard of stress relief?”

Dave swore behind the closed door and stomped away from the office.

Cal sighed, stood up and refastened his trousers. “How the hell do you not get hit on a regular basis?”

“They all love me.”

Josh smirked at him and accepted Cal’s hand to get to his feet. He gasped as Cal tugged him into his arms.

“Charlie?” he murmured.

“You’re mine,” Cal growled.

“I’ve been yours since the first day you messaged me by mistake, CDR053,” Josh assured him. “It just took you a while to realize it.”

Cal stroked his cheek. “I knew,” he said huskily. “I just couldn’t do anything about it.”

“Hurry up!” Gil bellowed.

Josh sighed. He brushed his lips over Cal’s and stepped back. “Time to rejoin the real world.”

They returned to the office and a mixture of expressions from the men. Rick and Dave just looked resigned. Brenner was obviously amused and not in the least bit intimidated by Cal’s caveman gesture. Gil looked like he wanted to thump somebody although Josh wasn’t sure if it was aimed at him and Cal. Max’s expression was the hardest to read. Josh knew Max had an attraction towards Cal even if it was only because Cal was downright fucking gorgeous, but it was almost like he was disappointed about something. Josh filed it away to pick up later.

“Now you’ve had your coffee break,” Rick said snidely, “perhaps we could get back to work.”

“It depends whether Detective Brenner has finished with us or not,” Josh said, looking at him. “You still need to interview me.”

Brenner put down his mug, saying, “This won’t take long.”

“Come into my office,” Josh said. He ignored Cal’s growl and led the way back to the office he’d been working in.

Josh took his place behind the desk and Brenner flopped into the seat opposite him.

“Tell me what happened last night,” Brenner said.

Josh ran through the sequence of events, including Cal threatening Mullins, until Stephen’s phone call waking them up. Brenner made notes, and occasionally queried the narrative. It didn’t take long, and Josh imagined their statements had all been similar.

Finally, Brenner looked up. “I’ll be checking out your alibis, but as you say you were here when Mullins was killed, then I don’t think there’s much else to discuss.”

“Here and under fire,” Josh pointed out. “Which your colleagues will verify.”

“I’m done. You have my number if you need me.”

Josh eyed Brenner. “Why you?”

“Why me what?”

“Why did they send a detective inspector, especially you, to interview us?”

Brenner gave a wry smile. “Because Mullins was important, because they knew we’d worked together in the past, and because they knew it would really piss you off.”

“Who’s they?” Josh asked.

“You mean you don’t know?”

“Graham Herring.”

“Bullseye.”

Brenner got to his feet. “Time I got back to the office and did my real job.”

“You mean you’ve distracted us long enough for Herring to do whatever he needed to.”

“You really aren’t as stupid as you look, Cooper.” Brenner smirked at him.

They walked out and Cal joined them instantly. Brenner eyed them both speculatively and Josh wondered what he was thinking. He certainly didn’t expect the next question.

“Do you have any vacancies for an ex-detective?”

Cal made a choking noise and Josh elbowed him in the ribs before he could say anything.

Josh smiled at Brenner sweetly. “At the moment we are a very new enterprise, but
