Up for Heir - Stella Starling Page 0,80

Leo here, he needed as much of him as he could get.

“Anything, Eddie,” Leo said. “I’m watching. I’m touching you. This is exactly how I want you. Gasping on my fingers. Letting me fill you up. Letting me have everything you’ve got, darling. Letting me in—”

“Leo,” Edvin said, his balls spasming as he tagged his own prostate, eyes drifting shut as he fell fully into the fantasy.

“Come undone for me, love,” Leo growled, his words winding around Edvin and then pulling him apart. “Feel me inside you. Faster, baby. That’s it… Eddie, yes, darling. Just like that. I want to feel… feel all of you… feel you around me… so beautiful. You’re mine. Come for me, Eddie.”

But Edvin already was, from the moment Leo claimed him as his own.

Chapter Fifteen

Edvin

Edvin stifled a yawn as his footsteps echoed across the fancy marble tile of the vast building where the Rosavian Royal Archives were kept. He’d shown up at eight in the morning on a Saturday, as requested, but then had to wait a full twenty minutes before Hans arrived to let him in. He really would have preferred the extra twenty minutes of sleep given how late he’d stayed on the phone with his prince the night before, but not even Hans’s lack of consideration for his time, or the fact that Edvin was currently missing out on a day of pampering with his siblings—or even the pointed teasing he’d endured from them that morning about the way his less-than-discreet video call with Leo had ended—could dampen Edvin’s glow.

For the first time since he’d met Leo, Edvin had woken up that morning believing—really believing—that Leo truly wanted him, and tomorrow, at the Royal Ball, it would become official. He’d be engaged to his prince.

He grinned, shifting his messenger bag higher on his shoulder as he trudged after Hans, his jaw cracking with another yawn as they headed toward the climate-controlled restoration room they’d be working in for the day. Edvin wasn’t normally a coffee drinker, but maybe he should have stopped for some? Not that he could have brought it into the sterile environment of the restoration room with him, of course, except… wait. Hans was veering off toward his own office, not heading to the restoration room.

“Hans?” Edvin said, his feet slowing. “Um, w-wh-where are you going? I want to… want to get started.”

Edvin had already accepted that he’d be putting in a very long day, but there was no point making it any longer by delaying the start of it. Well, not any more than it already had been delayed, what with Hans running late like that. Besides, even if Edvin hadn’t been eager to get going with the work he’d showed up to do, he had no good memories of Hans’s office and no desire to visit it again.

“You know we can’t have contaminants in the restoration room, Vinnie,” Hans said impatiently, turning to fix him with a stern, condescending look that had Edvin fighting not to roll his eyes. Of course he knew that.

“O-O-Okay?” he prompted when Hans didn’t offer anything else, half expecting the man to launch into an unnecessary lecture about how Edvin would have to leave his bag in one of the little lockers provided for that purpose before entering the restoration room and don hospital scrubs, gloves, and masks, as if they were heading in to perform surgery. Which, in a way, they were, he guessed. The books they’d be working on were hundreds of years old in some cases, and so fragile that just turning one of the brittle pages too quickly could make it crumble into ancient, priceless dust.

It was one of the reasons that, while technically a part of the Royal Library where Edvin worked, too, the archives were housed here in a completely separate building… and unfortunately, in this building, Hans was the one in charge.

If Edvin hadn’t still been floating on cloud nine, that last fact—combined with the myriad ways he already suspected Hans would try to take advantage of his authority to make Edvin feel small and worthless—would have made today’s task feel like Edvin had been sentenced to the palace dungeon.

Wait, was there a dungeon in the palace? Edvin tuned out Hans’s grating voice and pictured Leo’s home. It was honestly hard to imagine something as unpleasant as an actual dungeon existing anywhere on the gorgeous palace grounds, and Rosavia was a pretty peaceful place overall, but still… maybe? After all, Leo’s royal ancestors would have
