The Healer (The Order of Intergalactic Peace #1) - Kelly Lucille Page 0,23

Clearly he was not going to be denied this time.

Just to be contrary, and because she was fighting the need to panic she held on to her control, denying him once again a taste of her power.

He stomped forward with a snarl. The door swooshed again, closing at his back, sealing them in alone. The power swirling around her grew, promising untold pleasure with each bite along her skin. But the bites themselves stung with warning. It was a dichotomy that defied description.

Then he was right there in her space, breathing her air and plunging big hands in her loose hair. He yanked her head back so that she had no choice but to meet eyes that were so cold they burned her skin everywhere they touched. He captured her gaze easily, even as she fought the need to react. Holding herself still she refused to give him the satisfaction of showing how much his grip bothered her.

His hands tightened into fists that drew her closer, so that she could feel the heat of his angry breath on her lips. He took in the stubborn sheen in her eyes, the way her chin jutted, lips pressed tight together, and a rumble of rage sounded as the anger ramped up in his cold eyes.

“You will give me what I want little healer,” he assured her in an almost hiss. He was so angry it was a pressure in her mind. Her healing power flared to combat the press of his anger. That one little slip of power and he had her.

Power that swirled over her slammed into that flare of power and pulled so that all at once her whole body flared with golden light as her power came fully out to play. Her control of a lifetime shattered, and he got more than he bargained for. As if it was two halves of the same whole their powers merged and twirled around the two of them locking them together while Serenity fought the need to scream. Not because it hurt, but because it felt just that good.

Then hard lips slashed across her own. He lifted her up in his arms and slammed her back against the wall behind her. If there had been anything on the walls they would no doubt have crashed down around them.

She had no idea when her hands grabbed fists of his tunic or when she closed her eyes, but they snapped open when he pulled back. She sucked in search of air and all she tasted was the addictive taste of Mal Ryn. He met her eyes again. Then his eyes finally moved from her own to travel the path of her. Eyes that burned, drinking her in, claiming her. Then they returned to slam back into hers and she saw the utter cold staring back at her.

“You hid a great deal from me,” he said, his voice a cold dash of water to her face. It was a hard reminder of where she was, and with whom.

Serenity swallowed hard and attempted to slow her breathing and put space between them. But his grip still held her, the wall at her back. There was nowhere to go while his eyes reminded her she did not know the man she had just kissed back with such wanton abandon.

The swirling mix of desire, fear, confusion and embarrassment was too conflicting, so she took her cue from the man pressing her into the wall and stuffed all those feelings away as inconsequential. She slowed her heartbeat and forced her body out of what she could only describe as heat. As embarrassing as that was for her to admit.

She returned to her usual serene self with an effort, ignoring as best she could the slick wetness between her thighs. And hoped, most fervently, that she didn’t run into any hunters and their enhanced senses before she had a chance to do something about it.

Truthfully, she had bigger worries than the fact that Mal Ryn could make her forget everything with just the press of his lips, or who would notice. Whatever molten passion had flared between them in that insane kiss, it was as if he had flipped a switch and a solid wall of ice now cooled the small space between his skin and hers. That he could be so out of control one moment and then return instantly to the austere High Lord was…disconcerting.

“You have the answer you wanted,” she reminded him softly, pressing against his chest
