Hate (Her Monsters #2) - K.A Knight Page 0,92

can start our lives.”

“If I accidentally kill the dragon, how mad would you be?” I call after her as she turns away and starts to leave.

“Very,” she retorts, and then pats her leg to call the wolf who happily trots to her side, rubbing along her hip. “I would bring him back and let him kick your ass.”

“Then you would kiss it better.” I laugh, although that doesn’t sound too bad.

“Griffin, don’t test me on this,” she warns, her voice filling the hallway with power, making me snarl. My wings fly out behind me as I meet her head-on.

“Do not test me either, Vasculo,” I growl.

She grins, the crazy bitch is loving our fight. “I just might one day, to see what you do.”

“It might get you killed,” I reply, and she sighs wistfully.

“That would be fun, but until then be good. Well, as good as you can be.” She turns away and saunters off with her massive wolf at her side. I watch her go with a smile playing on my lips.

One day, we’ll probably end up killing each other. Wouldn’t that be fun?

I wait and wait some more. I keep feeling the thread between Dawn and me stretching farther and farther until suddenly, it stops. She stops. Then comes pain and anger. It flows through her to me and I roar with it, gnashing my teeth as I beat the cell door.

It feels like it lasts an eternity, but when it’s over I’m gulping in air as I wait for her. But she doesn’t come. I feel her drawing closer. Where is she? I try to rip the door from the cement, but it’s too strong, magically bound, so I can’t. Instead I pace my cell, counting the steps to stop myself from going mad. She is strong, she doesn’t need my protection, but I just found her. We don’t know each other very well yet, but she is already locked into my soul like the missing piece, so to lose her now?

No, I can’t think of that.

Just then the cell door opens, revealing my mate. A very large wolf stands behind her, its eyes narrowed on me as he pushes past her and enters first, sniffing me before circling. “New pet?” I ask, raising my eyebrows.

She smells of blood and sex, and I have to rearrange my hard cock in my trousers and ignore the urge to throw her against the nearest wall and have her. “Something like that.” She shrugs and then her eyes darken. “It’s time.”

“What happened?” I demand, closing the distance and ignoring the wolf that snaps at me to grab her and bring her into my arms. Feeling her solidly against me settles all that panic and worry.

“They tried to kill me. It seems I’ve outlived my purpose. They are having a meeting tomorrow, everyone will be there. We are going to crash it.” She grins, and it’s an evil smile that has me groaning.

“But first I need to shower and then we need to build my army.” She winks and turns away, but stops at the cell door to glance back at me. “Coming?”

“Always.” I incline my head. Army? What army?

I follow after my mate, the wolf at my side, as she wanders down the corridor before stopping at a scarred door and heading inside. She looks back at the wolf. “Guard the door, won’t you?” she asks in a sweet voice. He lowers his head in a strange nod before turning and sitting right in front of the door.

I step inside and shut it behind me, pondering over the strange animal. He acts like a person…is he a werewolf? No, he felt...raw, animalistic, and powerful. So what is he? But all my questions disappear as Dawn starts to undress.

Her eyes light up as she watches me, pulling up her dress and tossing it aside, leaving her bare before me. She grins naughtily like she knows my exact thoughts and turns, sauntering into a shower stall. A moment later, I hear the water flick on and close my eyes in pain.

I imagine the water tracing down her curves the way I wish my hands could. But she has been through a lot, and I don’t think she even realises that she doesn’t just need sexual intimacy, but comfort as well. I do not believe she knows how to ask for it, my poor little mate. It tells me a lot about her. She has been hurt before for asking, for needing. One
