Hannah's Hero - Ruby Dixon Page 0,82

he empties his seed into me with such force I swear I can feel him bathing my insides. I cling to him, my arms and legs wrapped around his much bigger body as he rocks his hips into me, moving ever so slightly deeper as if he needs to impregnate me in the first go.

And then my gorgeous J’shel collapses on top of me, and I’m buried under a mountain of sweaty blue muscle.

I don’t even care.

I run my hands up and down his broad back, loving the feel of him. He’s like touching suede, I realize, just a little bit fuzzy and oh so soft. He’s so hard and muscular that I never noticed until now, and I can’t stop petting him. It’s like I have to keep touching him like my life depends on it, so I do. I brush his hair back from his face and run my hands over his arms and shoulders and back, and dig my heels into the glorious muscles that make up his perfect ass.

J’shel’s completely still over me, the only sound that of his heavy breathing. Eventually, I become aware of the press of his bigger body over mine, the slickness between our joined thighs, and the vines pushing against my hair. I tap a finger on his side. “Um, you okay?”

“I see why, now,” he murmurs, the sound utterly replete.

“Why what?”

He lifts his head and gives me a little grin that looks so self-satisfied that I want to laugh. “Why K’thar is always smiling since we arrived in this land.”

I giggle. “I expect you to be smiling that much, too.”

“I think I shall never stop,” he admits, and gives me a kiss.

HANNAH

The next morning, I wake up, and the furs smell like sex and sweat… and they’re empty. J’shel isn’t lying beside me like he was when I drifted off to sleep, and panic hits me. I jerk upright, looking around at the leafy paradise inside the cave. “J’shel?” When I don’t see him, the panic grips me harder. He didn’t leave me behind, did he? “J’shel!”

My big alien emerges from the vine-covered entrance to the cave. The fact that he was near the entrance again fills me with terror, and even the sight of the waterskins, puffed up with snow, doesn’t make me feel better. I grab at one of his hands the moment he sits down next to me. “Where did you go? Why did you go outside?”

“To get water.” He holds the skins out.

“You went to see that bird, didn’t you?” When he doesn’t look me in the eye, I slap his arm in frustration. “You think I don’t know what you’re up to? I know how your mind works. Don’t go out there, J’shel! It’s not safe!”

“I only went far enough to get snow,” he reassures me, his tone gentle.

“You can’t scare me like that,” I tell him, feeling dangerously close to tears. I’m still aching and sore in all the right ways from our glorious round of lovemaking last night, but my cootie’s still humming with need. “You can’t leave me.”

“I would never leave you,” J’shel says, caressing my cheek.

“Then promise me you didn’t go out to check on that bird.”

He’s quiet, and I want to scream. “I had to see if it had left,” he eventually says.

“And did it?”

“No. It remains in the same spot.” His expression is displeased.

Figures. I was hoping it’d leave on its own, but I guess that was too much to hope for. “Which means we stay here for a while longer.” When he doesn’t answer right away, I realize he’s avoiding answering anything, really. “Promise me you won’t go out there,” I demand again. “That you’re not going to try and ‘save’ us from that thing. It’s the size of a plane. It’s not safe.”

He flicks his long, tangled hair back over his shoulder, the mess of it clearly irritating him, but I think it looks gorgeous. “It is not that simple, H’nah—”

“Yes it is,” I interrupt. “It is the most simple thing in the world to just stay in here with me.” He’s worrying me, especially when he doesn’t come rejoin in me in bed. My cootie’s still humming with resonance, and…and this can’t be it, right? He can’t go off and do something foolish now and get himself killed. “You need to be with me forever,” I tell him desperately. I know that sounds crazy and needy, but I don’t care. “If we’re making an alien baby
