Goddess of Pain - Katie May Page 0,73
him through the crowd, out the door, and into the icy air. The bouncer nods to me in greeting when I pass, but one look from Sin has him cowering in terror.
“Don’t look at my woman,” Sin hisses, wrapping a possessive arm around my shoulder. Immediately, I shrug him off, quickening my pace until we reach a moderately empty stretch of parking lot. I spin on my heel, shocked to see pain and confusion in his gaze at my rejection of his touch.
“What the hell, Sin?” The wind is biting today, blowing my black hair around my face. “Why didn’t you push her away?”
“What?” He stares at me in genuine bemusement.
“That girl had her tit on you!”
“What?” he repeats.
“She had her bare fucking tit on you, Sin! Why didn’t you push her away? Why didn’t you stop it?” I’m panting, struggling to hold on to my anger, because beneath all of that is pain. Lots and lots of pain.
Juggling five men like mine…
It’s not always easy, and there are many days that I feel inadequate. Why do they remain with me when they can have any girl they want? Why are they loyal when they can easily get their dicks wet? Not once—not in the numerous centuries we have been together—have they ever cheated on me. Has something changed since we got here? Do they no longer feel that way about me?
Anger momentarily darkens Sin’s eyes as he releases a hiss of air. Fire erupts on both of his hands.
“I’ll burn her,” he says, voice nearly unrecognizable. “I’ll burn her alive.”
“Sin, no.” And now, I’m not angry or even upset. I’m just…tired.
“You want to know the truth?” Abruptly, he grabs my waist, the flames from his palms searing first my dress and then my flesh and making my back arch in both pain and pleasure. Smoke wafts through the air as I gasp, my eyes rolling into the back of my head. “These humans…these people…they’re nothing to me. They’re ants. They’re not even worth an ounce of my attention.” Orange and red flames ripple down his body, and everywhere we touch, I burn. Instead of a gasp of pain, I release a low moan, my hips jerking against his leg.
“Sin…”
“Here’s what I’m going to do.” His fire kisses my skin, and the smell of burnt flesh permeates the air. When he pulls his hand away, I know that my skin will be blackened and charred from his fire. “I’m going to go back inside, find this woman you speak of that made you doubt me for even a fucking second, and kill her. And then, I’ll find the guy who tried to dance with you and kill him too. And maybe I’ll kill the bouncer who looked at you when we left.”
“Sin, no.” I cup his cheeks, staring into his burning eyes. Each pupil holds a miniature flame that twists and dances, a kaleidoscope of crimson, burnt orange, and aspen yellow. “I didn’t doubt you…” I trail off, unable to express the thoughts running rampant through my head.
“Then what?” he demands as he trails his hands up my sides, burning away more and more of my dress and flesh. His cock is painfully hard, poking against my skin, as I grind against him like one of those horny humans we saw in the club.
“I was jealous,” I admit, slightly breathless. “Becoming human, even for a little bit, changed me.”
“Changed you how?” His finger brushes first one cheekbone and then the other, and I throw my head back at the agony that erupts on my flesh. Immediately, that agony transforms into a white-hot pleasure as I feel an orgasm rapidly approaching. I begin to move my hips faster and faster, his leg brushing against that sweet spot with every thrust of my hips. But before I can reach that edge, before I can propel myself over, Sin steps away, head tilted to the side. “Changed you how?” he repeats, and the car behind him goes up in flames, metal pieces spewing in all directions. People begin to scream, and I just know that this night is going to be cut short.
But I can’t find it in me to give a damn.
“Changed. You. How?” Each word is cold leaving his lips, a direct juxtaposition to the fire emitting from his skin. Another car goes up into flames, and I hear someone scream about bombs.
Footsteps pound from all directions, and I desperately grab at Sin’s hand, pulling him away from the crowded parking
