alarms were going off in the building for a fire, and sent that too. That was when Mark reached her.
Grabbing her shoulders, he made her face him, pointed at the back door, and mouthed, "Go to Dez's house!" The man was probably screaming it at the top of his lungs.
She almost did. She had no intention of doing anything else. Not until Amy grabbed Mark's arm, pointed at the front, and they all looked. There, through the archway, Zara could see Rhaven struggling with some man in a black hoodie, and losing. Without a word needing to be said, the group of them ran that way, refusing to leave one of their own.
For a split second, Zara wished that Crysis was trained as an attack dog, but that wasn't his job. He was here to make them all feel better. She was supposed to be the hero this time, and she'd be damned before she let anyone hurt her friends again.
Dez stopped at the first computer and began typing frantically. Braden got his extinguisher free and was halfway to the lobby. Chance hooked Amy around the waist and tried to push her back toward the loading dock exit, but she resisted. In desperation, Chance grabbed a pen off the closest desk and wrote on his hand, "Call Fire!"
Amy nodded and reached for the closest headset on the desk beside her. There was no way they'd hear her, but it was enough to let Chance run into the lobby. Mark had vanished, but a second later, the sound stopped, and he reappeared. It was just in time for Amy's yelling to carry through the space.
"Deviant Games. Fire!" Then she stopped, looking up as if shocked. "Yes. I'm in the building."
"And people breaking in," Dez added.
So Amy repeated that. Zara paused, sucking in a deep breath, and forced her mind to work. She could feel the panic hitting her. She knew her mind wanted to melt down and give up, but she couldn't yet. No, she had to help, but how? Wait. Fire!
Without letting go of Crysis, she spun and ran toward the lobby. Rhaven, Braden, and Chance were all struggling with a group of men, but Amy's desk was burning - and bad. The heat was like a wave, making Zara lift a hand to shield her face. That dropped the leash, but Crysis stayed right with her as she darted in to grab an extinguisher lying on the ground.
A big sticker on the side said to remove pin before use. Pulling out the pin, she turned toward the flames, all but ignoring the brawl just feet away, and began spraying. Fuck aim. Fuck control. Zara soaked it all, knowing that everything up here was about to be useless. Documents, computers, phones, chairs, and even the logo on the back wall. It was all going to be either char or drenched in foam, but she didn't give a shit.
The men were all growling and grunting. The sound of people hitting each other was insane. For a split second, Zara thought about spraying them down like a pack of dogs, but those were her friends in there too, and she had no idea if this stuff was poisonous. Instead, she rushed back into the warehouse and made her way to the other archway.
"Dez!" she yelled. "Call Crysis for me?"
"C'mere, boy!" Dez said immediately.
Crysis looked at Zara, over to Dez, then groaned and headed that way. It was kinda sweet that he didn't want to leave her, but Zara wasn't about to risk her dog getting hurt in the middle of this. He didn't deserve that, and it would give Dez a reason to stay back.
"We've got a few guys in there fighting with Chance, Braden, and Rhaven," she added before she made it back to the front.
"Fuck!" Mark growled, and feet hurried her way.
Sure enough, the other side of the desk was still smoldering, but it wasn't exactly burning. Zara let off a burst of fog just as Mark ran in through the other side, diving in to help his friends. The guy wasn't exactly fit, but he pulled a man off Rhaven, and it seemed to help. While Zara sprayed the foam, they kept going, and she wasn't really sure who was winning, but they were stuck in the lobby.
Then Amy rushed in and gasped. "Drake?" she asked just as lights began to flash through the windows at the front.
Red and blue lights. The police were here! Zara was ready to
