Forever (Lost Souls MC #1) - Blue Saffire Page 0,53

hand behind his head and lift from my seat a little to get closer. He moans and bites at my lower lip.

“Boss,” Troy’s voice fills Owen’s office.

Oh, shit, we didn’t close the office door. Owen pulls away from the kiss, allowing me to see Troy standing frozen in the doorway. His mouth is hanging open and the papers in his hand are hanging limply from his fingertips.

Owen had contained what happened in this office a few weeks ago. That whole scene with Beth and Magdalena was as good as buried. I haven’t heard so much as a whisper about it.

This, however, is not how Owen wanted our relationship to get out. We usually close the door for privacy if we know we just can’t keep our hands off each other. Troy has been making more and more unnecessary trips to this office over the last week. Including the one when he tried to ask me out on a date.

Troy pulls a face, looking as if someone has stolen his new puppy. Owen grunts, then leans over me to kiss my lips once more. I guess since the cat is out of the bag.

“Go have Holden order our lunch. Get me whatever you like,” he says as he pulls me from my chair. He pats my ass and kisses my temple.

Yeah, this is more than the cat being out of the bag. Owen has been waiting to stake his claim on me in front of Troy. He’s been annoyed with him since my interview.

I shake my head at Owen and start out of the office. I put a little extra sway in my hips as I feel his eyes on me. I smile and wave at a flabbergasted Troy on the way out.

I am still giggling when I get down the hall to the reception desk. Holden hangs up the phone as I put my elbows on the desk and peer at him. I smile and reach to ruffle his hair.

Holden blinks at me like I’m crazy. I laugh. He always has such a serious look on his face. I know he’s my age, I also know he and Tracks came around right before Mom and Dad’s accident. They didn’t get as much time with Cage as the rest of us.

Tracks is still loyal to King and the club, though. That much I know. You can’t be on the Squad and not be loyal.

“You’re trying to get my ass kicked,” Holden whispers as he looks down the hallway toward Owen’s office.

I stop laughing and tilt my head to the side. “What do you mean?”

Holden rolls his eyes and pokes out his twisted lips. “I’m not stupid. Shit, anyone paying attention can see it. You’re fucking the shit out of the boss.” He wiggles his brows at me. “I’ve seen the hickeys and claw marks on his neck.”

My mouth falls open. I lean over the desk. “How do you know they’re from me?”

“Oh, come on. Have you seen the way he looks at you? Girl please, he’s probably in there handing Troy his ass. I’ve seen it coming for days now.”

Holden props his chin on his hand as I gape at him. I lick my dry lips. “You haven’t told anyone?” I whisper.

“Not my thing, I don’t gossip. Besides, you’re good for him. Squad members need something to keep them from going into the darkness.” He shrugs.

My eyes go wide and I take a step back. “What?” I choke out.

Holden looks at me like I’m stupid and bursts into laughter. “Wow, everyone’s right. You don’t pay attention to shit around the club. How could you not know you’re fucking the Squad captain? It don’t get no darker or more fucked up than your man.”

“But… how is that possible?” I say.

“Eva, what do you know about the Squad?”

I think about that. Well, damn, nothing really. I know Tracks, Gutter, Grim, Beau, and Diggs are all Squad and there are seven more I’ve never met or at least, I never thought I knew them. There are twelve in all. Like apostles. They cover King.

Essentially, they go to hell and back for the club. Forget enforcers, the Squad rolls in when shit is about to turn apocalyptic. The ones I know of are batshit crazy. I close my eyes and groan.

“Fuck,” I whisper.

“Yup, you get it now. Have you seen his Lost Souls tat? All Squad members have a reaper with wings and a sword in his hands. It’s not the standard reaper,” Holden says
