my desire for him soaring to new heights. “Line dancing. How’d you know?”

“You really want to know?” His lips trembled with amusement. “Every time I pass by your salon, you’re dancing. Cutting hair? Dancing. Shampooing or curling hair? Still dancing. Must be why you have such great legs.”

Oh damn, I am in serious trouble. Grant wasn’t just gorgeous and charming, he was a man who paid attention. I stuck one leg out and twisted my foot left and then right. “These old things? I’ve had them for years.”

“Good,” he purred in my ear as he reached for my hand on the edge of the dance floor and tugged me to the middle of the room. “That means you’ve had plenty of years to practice. Show me what you’ve got, beautiful.”

I tossed my head back and laughed. “Me? Show me what you’ve got, Yankee.”

“Who said I was a Yankee?” Grant wasn’t offended which was just another point in his favor as he twirled me around the floor with ease, his steps graceful and confident.

The first song ended with us chest-to-chest and I gasped at just how close we were and how hard his body was, everywhere. “Mostly your accent, but I’m sure I could think of a few more things after a few more dances.”

His smile brightened at that and I pressed against him. “Guess I better not disappoint.”

“Guess so,” I told him as another song started. Grant’s hands never left mine and I had a feeling I was going to do something really stupid, like sleep with him, which was exactly what Eva had warned me not to do. But dang, he made it hard to be a good girl the way he kept that heated green glare on me, smiling at me like I really was the prettiest girl in the whole place.

Four, maybe five songs later and we were both damp with sweat, breathing hard and smiling like fools. I could see us this same way only in a whole other setting and I had to look away as I sipped my ice cold lemonade. “Another dance?”

I didn’t answer, just put my hand in his and let me guide me to the dark end of the dance floor as a slow country ballad started up and Grant pulled me close, so close that I could feel his heart beating against my chest.

“You’re a good dance, Brenna.”

“So are you,” I whispered in his ear, enjoying the way his breath hitched at that one little move. “You impressed me.”

“Yeah?” I nodded and he leaned in closer. “Then I already consider tonight a win.”

I knew the kiss was coming, I could just feel it based on the heat in his eyes and the way he licked his full lips a moment before they pressed against mine. His lips were soft and pillowy, but they were also firm and insistent, almost commanding as his tongue slid back and forth across the seam of my lips until I opened up. Grant moaned and his grip tightened on my hips, letting me feel just how much he was impacted by the kiss.

The kiss was soft and gentle, but it was hot enough to singe the material right off the lacy black panties I’d worn to boost my confidence. “Wanna get out of here?”

This was it, the moment of truth. Was I gonna to be a good girl? A grown woman who made good decisions, or was I going to live in the moment and satisfy my desire for this man who had intrigued me for weeks? “I think I do.” I still hadn’t made up my mind and Grant didn’t push.

“You think?” Like the gentleman he was, Grant wasn’t halfway to the door to force the issue, he kept swaying to the music and he still held me close.

Ah, hell. Who am I kidding? I nodded, my decision firm in my mind now. “I want to get out of here.”

His shoulders sagged in relief and I grinned. “Your place or mine?”

My grin broadened at his question. “Depends on who makes it to the street first. Race ya!” I took off at a run, thankful I’d worn my favorite pair of boots tonight instead of the sexy stilettos Jessie May had insisted I wear.

Grant

Damn, was there anything hotter than a woman who wasn’t afraid to laugh out loud? Yeah, a woman who did what it took to win without worrying about a man’s ego. It was hot as hell watching her race to her car,
