Fool for You (Southern Bride #7) - Kelly Elliott Page 0,52

over me and put her head on my chest. She snuggled into me and sighed with contentment.

Kissing the top of her head, I whispered, “Good morning. I think housekeeping is knocking.”

“Tell them to go away—I’m in the arms of a hot guy who has morning wood.”

It was about that moment when she wrapped her hand around my hard dick.

I laughed and went to say something when the knock got louder. “Emmerson?”

We both bolted up and looked at each other.

“Oh my God, it’s my dad!” she whispered as she pushed away from me and flew out of bed. I scrambled out right after her.

Then she started talking with only her hands. She pointed to my clothes and then to the bathroom. I grabbed my shit and rushed to the bathroom as she pulled on some clothes.

“Hold on, Daddy, let me get something on!” she called out. “I must have overslept.”

After getting dressed faster than I ever have before in my life, I stepped into the bathtub and slowly shut the curtain, listening to Emmerson let her parents into the room.

“Hey, sorry, I only woke up a few minutes ago,” Emmerson said. I heard the door to the hotel room shut.

Paislie chuckled. “Well, it is only eight, sweetheart, and you had a very long day and night.”

I could almost hear Emmerson’s heart hammering from all the way in here, or maybe that was mine.

“Who were you talking to?” Malcolm asked.

“I wasn’t talking to anyone. Oh, I was talking on the phone to Landon, though. We were making plans to head down and eat breakfast before heading back to Waco. He mentioned something about a rental car being delivered this morning.”

Shit, I had forgotten about that. It wasn’t set to get dropped off at the hotel until eleven, though, since I figured Emmerson would want to have breakfast first.

“Emmit and Addie asked if we could all do breakfast together this morning? They’re going to call Landon, as well as Hailey and Mike, to see if they want to join us,” Paislie said.

I froze, remembering that I tossed my phone onto the table in Emmerson’s room when I had walked in last night.

“Oh, sounds good. Let me get freshened up some since I just woke up. I’ll most likely find Landon and head down with him.”

“Starting the whole fake engagement thing now?” Malcolm asked from what sounded like across the room.

“Um, yeah, I guess so. We talked about getting a ring, so maybe I’ll pop into some cheap little jewelry store and pick one up.”

“You could wear something of mine,” Paislie said. “I have that emerald ring you love so much.”

“Oh, no, Mom! I couldn’t do that. It wouldn’t feel right.”

Malcolm huffed. “And why not? If you’re going to pretend this thing is real, don’t you think you should at least wear a ring that doesn’t look like Landon bought it out of a gumball machine?”

“I’ll talk to Landon about it, Mom.”

“Okay, let’s let her get ready, honey,” Paislie said as she walked past the bathroom. The sound of the hotel door opening caused me to draw in a deeper breath as I willed them to not stop and investigate the bathroom for whatever reason.

“How long do you think you’ll be so I can let Addie know?” Paislie asked.

“No more than thirty minutes, if that.”

“Sounds good!”

“See you in a few minutes, sweetheart,” Malcolm said.

“Love you, Daddy,” Emmerson said. I heard her shut the door.

I waited almost a good thirty seconds before I stepped out of the tub and opened the bathroom door.

Emmerson stood there with her finger to her mouth to keep me from saying anything. She lifted up onto her tippy toes and looked out the peephole. Then she opened the door and glanced both ways down the hallway before she shut it again.

Falling back against the door, Emmerson let out a giggle. “Oh my God…my heart is pounding in my chest.”

“Yours? All I could imagine was your daddy throwing back the shower curtain and my nose actually getting broken.”

She brought her hand up to her mouth to keep her laughter in. Then she reached out and handed me my phone. “They didn’t see it.”

“Yeah, sorry about that. I remembered it while I was standing in there.”

“Well, I guess we should probably get ready for breakfast.”

I nodded. “Probably. I’ll head on back to my room and change and brush my teeth and all that.”

Emmerson nodded but didn’t move from her position against the door. I scanned her body, taking in the dress she
