Flawless River (Grizzly Bear Lake #2) - Ruby Shae Page 0,31
few minutes, she pulled the toy out of her aching pussy, and threw the thing against the wall. Now she was more worked up than ever, and she needed to come in the worst way, but she couldn’t help but also wonder if something was wrong with her. Maybe she was defective, and that’s why she’d never been able to feel anything other than mild pleasure.
She hoped not, but now that she’d found someone who she actually wanted to have sex with, she wasn’t surprised. Soon, Lael would learn what a freak she was in the bedroom, and then any affection he had for her would slowly diminish until he decided to find release in one of the lake girls.
Tears stung her eyes at the thought of that, and she swiped them away with the back of her hand. Even though she was alone, she suddenly felt vulnerable laying half naked on the bed, so she sat up and grabbed her swimsuit bottoms at the same time there was a loud knock on the door.
Besides the fact that no one except Lael ever came to visit her, she knew that knock. She glanced at the clock again, wondering if she’d misread the hour, but Lael must have left the shack early, because it wasn’t time for them to meet up yet.
She pulled on the swim-shorts, and raced to the door. He banged on the door again before she was able to turn the handle, and then he called her name as she pulled the wood open.
“What?” she asked.
She wasn’t sure why—probably because she still felt vulnerable—but she’d only pulled the door open wide enough for her body to get through, and she made no move to let him in.
“What’s going on?” he asked.
“Nothing,” she said, short on breath. “Why?”
He studied her with narrowed eyes, and she wondered if he could see the dried tears around her eyes. It hadn’t been a full-on cry session, so she doubted her eyes were red, but her weird behavior clued him in that something was up.
“Are you alone?”
“What? Of course, I am,” she laughed, starting to feel normal. Despite the fact that she wanted to lean forward and start licking his t-shirt covered chest, she was trying to act normal, too. “I just wasn’t expecting you so early. Are you ready to go?”
“Almost. Can I come in?”
“Of course.” She laughed again, but this time she heard the anxiousness in her voice, and she knew Lael did, too. She needed to get a grip and get her stuff together. She hadn’t even packed her bag yet. “I’m not ready anyway. You startled me, that’s all. I still have to pack my bag. Why did you close early?”
“Because I wanted to see you.”
The words came out like an accusation, and she didn’t miss the way he surveyed the small room like a detective on the scene of a crime. He actually thought she was hiding something—or someone—and even though she was acting weird, she refused to feel guilty for trying to pleasure herself.
Of course, he had no idea she’d been doing that, so maybe his suspicion wasn’t completely unwarranted. She wanted to confide in him, but when she opened her mouth, the right words didn’t come.
“Let me just get my bag, and I’ll be ready.”
She raced into the bedroom, grabbed the bag, and nearly crashed into Lael when she turned. He’d followed her into the bedroom, still suspicious, and all she could think about was the bed right behind her. It was a little small for the both of them, but she had no doubt they could make it work, and if they couldn’t, there was always the floor. Or the couch. Or the shower.
Her cheeks heated as she stared up at him, and one side of his mouth kicked up into a half smile. She had a feeling he knew exactly what she was thinking about, but he didn’t say word. For a minute, she wondered if he caught sight of the vibrator, but then she remembered that when she’d thrown it, it had hit the wall and fallen behind the dresser.
“I’m ready to go,” she said.
“Okay,” he nodded.
They started to walk out of the room, but she nearly froze when the sound of the toy vibrating filled the room. From the way the noise seemed to surround them, it must have been hitting something that amplified the sound.
“What is that?” Lael asked.
“Nothing,” she hastily replied, “let’s go.”
But, of course, he didn’t budge.
Instead, he walked
