more aware. This was like drinking ambrosia. And power. It filled me up with power as I continued to drain him. His lips soon grew cold, and I pulled back as what was once soft skin became ice cold stone.
I’d done it.
I’d sucked out his soul without using sex.
I patted my shirt and skirt, verifying that they were still intact. They were.
The sound of Raven snarling pulled me from my bliss and I turned to see that she’d grabbed the guy she’d previously been blowing and kissed him hard, making a tiny droplet of blood well at the side of his mouth. Caspian shrugged one shoulder as I snuck a glance at him, but then I went back to staring. We needed to know if she had this power.
I’d goaded her into revealing her abilities, as had been my intention. Sucking that Pirate’s soul was just an added benefit.
We watched to see if she could match my power.
But before long, the guy’s arms started to flail and in his pain and discomfort, he pushed at her shoulders, separating them before wiping his mouth clean. I snorted.
She couldn’t do it.
Raven couldn’t feed off of souls without sex, and she certainly couldn’t turn any part of these men to stone.
Not like I could.
Raven’s neck cracked as she whipped her steely gaze in my direction, her blue eyes swirling with darkness.
I got off of the statue I’d just created and pouted out my bottom lip. “Too bad, Raven. Looks like your mother gave you the wrong gift.”

Raven wiped her mouth on her bicep and glared at me like I’d just stolen her favorite guppy. I knew that look. The bitch was about to attack me right here in front of all these mortals and pirates and the rest of The Purpose class. I always wondered if she was that bold, to out herself here in front of an audience. I wouldn’t put it past her.
I carefully arose from the statue that once was a man, as my weight left him, there was nothing else to hold him down. So, like the stone cock Raven had placed on the chair in class before, the statue toppled over and clunked to the ground. The thunk made several of the mortals gasp and back up from the shipwreck that I’d made of him. The chair clattered to the ground, sending another wave of gasps throughout the room.
Garrison stood from his desk like his coffee had just kicked in and braced his chunky arms on the desk, taking in the scene. His eyes were widened and he scoffed like a spoiled brat child who had just been told ‘no’.
Raven practically boiled with anger. Her chest was heaving up and down with it, her skin flushed as her eyes grew darker by the second, until there was no contrast between her irises and her pupils. One of her hands begins to raise.
I mentally braced myself, or tried to. What in the name of whale blubber had I gotten myself into? Taunting this bitch who was clearly stronger than me and had more formidable powers even with my training session on the beach now seemed like a dumb as hell plan. Still, it had worked.
Come on, you bitch. You’re not just a princess.
I straightened my spine and squared off my shoulders, holding my chin high. “I know where you got those powers, Raven. I just faced the Queen of the Sirens and, amazingly enough, she has the same powers as you.” I made the statement as dramatic as possible, hoping she would take the bait.
Raven smiled like she had won something. “You think that I…” She trailed off, tapping her toe and putting her hands on her hips.
I shook my head. “I’m really not surprised that you don’t have any hunter powers. Sirens are only good for absorbing energy, not souls. Really just a fraction of what I can do, actually. Oh, wait, that’s unless you are in the Under. Aliz tried to suck out my energy right before I killed her.”
I cocked out my hip and pretended I didn’t give a shark shit either way, but really I was watching her, gauging her eyes and her expression, which she had no gift in hiding. I knew that Raven wasn’t tied to Aliz, but certainly with the way Aliz was plowing through the ranks, trying to find out who killed her son, Raven would know of her antics. The death of Aliz would be a huge win for the
