A Filthy Christmas (Filthy Line #6) - Jaxson Kidman Page 0,16

stepped up next to me and reached for the small, fake Christmas tree.

He moved the star left to right a few times.

“I’ve been there,” he said. “The way you feel.”

“Is that so?”

“Yeah.” He looked at me. “I was playing a show on December twenty-third. But by the time I got done, it was Christmas Eve. I had everything worked out perfectly. I had the girl. I had the ring. I had gigs. I had some money. There was a lot happening and it all felt good. I saw myself… I don’t know. Maybe I’d never front a band. Or be the lead guitarist and tour the world. But I hung around the clubs, the bands and the studio enough I could make a living at it.”

“You seem to be doing just fine,” I said.

“Yeah. It’s not a bad gig at all. But you don’t give a shit about my career. You want to know about the girl and the ring.”

“Correct,” I said.

“I got done with my set a little early and snuck out. I was going to wait until later on Christmas Eve or even Christmas morning to ask her to marry me. But I had the ring. I was jumpy about it. I was excited. I felt something in my heart about it. So, I went home early. I was going to wake her up and ask her to marry me. Right on the spot. Do I need to tell you how this story ends?”

“Well, I take it you’re not engaged,” I said. “Or married. But there’s a lot of reasons why.”

“She was fucking someone else,” Shane said.

He reached for the Christmas tree again and bent one of the fake branches.

“Shit,” I said. “Sorry.”

“Yeah. I caught her.”

“What?”

“I opened the bedroom door and there she was. Fucking some guy. Facing me, her ass in the air, this dude sitting on my bed, my girl riding his cock…”

“Oh, Shane,” I said.

“She threw her head back and looked right at me and kept pumping at him. I made a comment on how to make her come faster. She screamed my name. The guy threw her off him. I walked out of the bedroom and went into the living room and stood in the dark. With the Christmas tree turned off. There was just something about that moment…”

“You felt worthless?” I asked. “Like how the fuck did you let that happen, right?”

“Something like that, beauty,” Shane said. “The guy came out of the room, blabbering a bunch of shit. He threw Stacy right under the bus. Tried to say he didn’t know she was with me. I didn’t even look back at him. I still have no idea who the guy was. Stacy started to cry. She said she felt lonely and fucked up. So I crouched down and turned on the Christmas tree. Just to have some light in the living room so I could see her face. I turned around and stared at her. The tears were real. But they were guilty tears. I kissed her cheek and I told her to enjoy the rest of her life.”

“Shane,” I said. I reached for his hand. “That’s terrible. Where did you go?”

“Well, that night after my show, a woman had left her panties in my guitar case. I didn’t care at the time… but, you know…”

“What?” I asked.

Shane grinned. He looked at me. “I went back to the club, found that woman, and I fucked her brains out all night long.”

I took my hand from his. “Oh.”

“What? You want me to tell you that I cried my heart out? Fuck that.”

“Fuck that? She hurt you. And it still resonates with you. That’s why you’re doing all this stuff for me.”

“Wrong,” Shane said. “I’m doing this for you because you’re beautiful, I wanted to fuck you, and I want you to get over this guy. Blaze? Get out of here. You’re going to give up the rest of your dating life for him? What’s this guy going to do, Lita? Just show up one day and trade in his fake-tits girlfriend for you? You can’t be that stupid, right?”

“You know what? I should have stuck with my original plan. And that’s for you to leave. Goodbye, Shane.”

I reached forward with my foot and turned off the power strip that controlled the lights on the small Christmas tree.

Shane just laughed. “You’re pissed because I’m right. And I bet you hate Christmas because Blaze fucked up a bunch for you. You knew for a long
