scary to go that deep when you haven't done it before. When you add Ava into the mix … I just don't know. It makes me worry.”

I let out a sigh of my own before looking Evelyn in the eye. “I understand. I get you've never done BDSM of any kind, but like I told you before, I’m willing to go at your pace.”

“What if I never can get to where you want me to go?”

“I’m not worried about that.”

“Why?”

“I don't know,” I say with a smile and shrug. “I'm just not. I want to get to know you, and that's all I’m thinking about. As far as Ava is concerned, we’re over. I can't control what she does with her life, but I won't let her enter mine. We don't have to worry about her at all. Not anymore.”

Evelyn locks her gorgeous blue eyes on me, and I feel like I never need to look at anyone or anything else ever again. Evelyn is absolutely stunning, and when I look at her I want more than just sex. I definitely want that, but sitting here and having a conversation works just fine for me. Over a span of five months, Ava and I were never able to get to this point.

“That's easy to say now, Malcolm, but you never really know,” Evelyn says, and I reply in a hurry.

“Neither do you. We don't know what's going to happen or how we’re going to feel later. All I know is we like each other right now. We fit together right now, and we want to see where it goes. I’m not asking you to marry me. I’m just asking you to see where it goes with me. You don't have to be scared of me, Evelyn.”

“No, I do have to be scared,” she fires back, but her face flashes an oncoming smile. “The problem is I like it. You're a bad boy, Malcolm, but you wear the mask of a regular guy while in public.”

I smile because I know she's right, and I love the fact that she can figure me out. Two therapists together are bound to have fireworks, both in the bedroom and during regular conversations.

“Maybe that's true,” I say, grinning. “And I like that you're using your psychology degree in this conversation. Allow me to use mine. I think you'd be lying to yourself if you said you didn't want to try it with me. You're a thrill seeker, and I’m the thrill in front of you now. So, your heart races and you get nervous, but it only makes you more excited because your nerves tell you the thrill is off the charts. You like that. You like those nerves, and you love the fear the thrill gives you. That’s why you can't say no. You try, but the thrill always pulls you back. I think you like the fear.”

Evelyn pauses, looking at me with a grin on her thin, glossy lips. “Are you analyzing me, Dr. Colson?”

“Only as much as you're analyzing me, Dr. Monroe,” I reply, and we both smile from ear to ear.

“Well, good girls always go for the bad boys, don't they?” Evelyn says as she scoots herself forward, getting as close to me as she can. I put my hand on her thigh and gently squeeze with the tips of my fingers.

“Whoever said you were a good girl?” I reply, just before we embrace in a passionate kiss.

Toxic

~ MALCOLM ~

I’m on fire. Every step I take feels as if my entire body is engulfed in flames, and I need to walk faster—faster, so I can get to her. So I can see her. So I can kiss her, touch her, feel her, be with her. I’m on fire for her, and only her touch can cool me off. Only being near her can calm me down. This is what being on fire feels like.

I pull the door to Evelyn’s building open and speed walk inside. It’s eight o’clock in the evening, so her last patient of the night should be wrapping up right about now, although I know Dr. Evelyn Monroe isn't one to rush a session to finish faster than it needs to. To Evelyn, the session will end when it ends, especially when she doesn't have to worry about keeping any other patients waiting. Tonight, however, I need her to hurry. For me. Call it selfish, that’s fine. When it
