Fae Fiefdom - M. Sinclair Page 0,68

little something extra in my step. I heard him mutter a curse as my classmates looked at me but frankly, I wasn’t very worried about their opinion of me after all this time. I mean Merrick might get fired but I had a feeling that he had only taken this position because it was convenient.

My phone buzzed as I received text messages, my face coloring pink and making me realize they were no doubt 100% from Kirin. I nibbled my lip wondering if I should check them but then decided on the ‘fuck it’ mentality and opened up my phone, keeping it near my lap so that I wasn’t being outright rude. Technically phones weren’t allowed in class but I was willing to take any punishment Merrick served up. Trust me.

Kirin: I need to see you again, I hope you made it home safe.

I swallowed realizing that had been the day right after, the following text with the date and time. That night before, Kirin had practically carried me into an Uber and I’d spent the entire trip curled up on his lap.

I wasn’t positive how I had gotten up into my room that night, but I woke up around 2 p.m. the following day changed into an oversized shirt with the bed smelling like him. Which was why I had been surprised when I had received nothing from him, clearly Denise had realized I’d had a guest and took actions into her own hands. I’d known she hated Kirin’s family but clearly not as much as I realized.

Just one more reason to hate the woman.

Kirin: Ophelia? I hope you are still sleeping, call me when you wake up.

Kirin: Zaya, baby, please pick up. I’m worried about you.

I felt guilt surge because the man sent literally every single text message, some of them about silly shit in school or what he’d had for lunch. He didn’t hold back or worry about sounding desperate, which I sort of love, and one of the last texts he had sent me was the night after the coffee shop.

Kirin: I wish I could explain what is going on. I want to spend time with you so badly, you have no fucking idea.

Oh. I blushed as I decided to send him back something realizing that he was done sending all of the missed texts since April 1st. I nibbled my lip and figured I would put myself out there.

I mean hell, I couldn’t deny I felt something for Kirin, clearly a lot actually, since the two of us had slept together. I had tried to blame it on drinking but it was far more than that. Neither of us had even been that drunk, just tipsy. I trusted Kirin and the man made me feel like the only woman in the room. Okay. Fine, I may have a huge crush on him. Was it weird that I liked that he hadn’t slept with anyone else? It made it feel more special. Sighing I pressed send.

Me: I really wish those hadn’t been blocked. I feel like we wasted these past few weeks when we could have been spending time together.

Ah, man. That was pretty much admitting I liked him right? Fuck. I was terrible at this shit. I rubbed my eyes taking out my packet and wishing I had more coffee. When I felt my phone buzz I pulled it out and smiled, realizing it was an unknown number.

Unknown: You okay?

My eyes flicked up to where Merrick was totally staring at me. I nodded and then smiled looking back down at my phone.

Me: How did you get my phone number? Stalker.

Merrick chuckled, drawing attention as he cleared his voice, trying to focus back on his work. I checked my other messages and felt a thread of anxiety at the fact that Kirin hadn’t responded yet.

I nearly rolled my eyes realizing Oliver had been placed in a group chat with Koa and Bard, along with myself. I was tempted to send him a bunch of emojis to freak him out. Except he would probably come storming in here worried about me not using full sentences.

Then there was Rain who had somehow gotten my number, my phone buzzing with his message right before I put it away.

Rain: You shouldn’t be texting in class, if it’s that unimportant to you, I can pick you up.

I rolled my eyes as Merrick offered me a smirk, clearly being the one to blame for Rain’s knowledge. It buzzed again after not responding.

Rain:
