in front of me and flung his arms around my neck, his weight slamming into me. “Yes! Yes, yes, Daddy, oh, yes!”
I laughed as I pushed him upright again. He didn’t know his own strength sometimes—he never quite had, but that was okay. I knew.
Slate clasped his hands in front of his chest and knelt there as I stood up again. I squinted in the faint light and spun the dial to the right code, opening the clasp.
5/05. The day we met. One day, I might even tell him that.
My fingertips trailed along his bare skin as I draped the chain around his neck and clicked it shut. Then, my hands still shaking, I spun the dial with one thumb and brushed my hands over his bare shoulders.
“Done,” I whispered, and a wave of pure emotion struck me, swelling my chest until I puffed up with the pride I felt at finally having done it. This is it, I thought. The rest of my life. And I can’t wait.
I took Slate’s arms, pulling him to his feet. He beamed at me, not even bothering to hide the tears in his eyes, and I grinned back.
And then, while the applause and hollers from our friends nearby rang in our ears, I kissed him like the world was ending and we’d never get another chance. But really, it was just Slate making my world turn once again.
The tears spilled down my cheeks, and at last, I let them fall without shame.
Being Slate’s Daddy had meant losing my fear of being vulnerable or hurt ever again. The day we met, I’d started learning to submit to my own feelings and to Slate’s needs.
In letting go of my fearful grip on power, I’d found more strength and control than I’d ever dreamed of. I’d found my other half, the man who fit the parts of me I’d once thought was broken.
And best of all, I’d found someone who could help me learn to be a better man, a better Dom, and a better Daddy every single day.
