His answering grin was full of promise and she shifted in her chair. He laid a hand on her thigh and even through the dress she could feel the heat seeping into her skin. Harper tried to listen to Eli’s speech until their best man lifted his glass and everyone lifted theirs in a toast to Harper and Ethan.

She exhaled in relief and clinked her glass with Ethan’s. One step closer to being alone with her husband. Kylie stood next, her words short and sweet.

“No two people deserve to find each other more than Harper and Ethan. Their happy ending gives us all hope that love truly conquers all. I love you guys.”

Harper blinked at the tears filling her eyes.

This really was her happily ever after. One she had doubted would be hers.

Even the media had come around and dubbed them the Golden Couple. The public opinion surrounding Harper had slowly changed and she became something of a symbol of hope. If she and Ethan could unite two warring families, then anything was possible.

An hour later, after Ethan fed her cake from his fingers, which she sucked into her mouth until he growled at her, and after they had their first dance together, the party settled into its own rhythm and Ethan grabbed her hand, tugging her into the house and up the stairs.

Their plane left in the morning for the honeymoon, taking them back to Tahiti where Ethan had reserved the bungalow where they’d first spent the night together. Two weeks of being alone together and she couldn’t wait.

When they got back they were heading to Ethan’s place in New York, where he’d get to oversee the international fingers of his father’s company while staying in the country. At the door to his room, Ethan pulled her to a stop and pressed her back to the wall. His hands came to rest on either side of her head and he leaned in, caging her in with his body. And this…” His hand dropped to slide between them, to rest on her stomach. “This is my life now. Both of you are it for me. You own me body and heart and I promise I will make sure you both know how much you are loved every single day for the rest of our lives.”

Tears filled her eyes and she wrapped her arms around him, buried her face in his neck to try and control the emotions filling her chest. If she had not gone to Tahiti, if she had not got caught in that riptide, she may never have met Ethan. They wouldn’t be where they were right that moment.
