her. I had to. Because she owned my heart and soul and I'd barely had time to earn the love she’d offered me. We had so much lost time to make up for. Fate surely wouldn't take me from her now.

S omeone was yelling my name but my head was ringing from the impact it had just made with a wall and it took me a few moments to recognise who it was.

"Let's just go," Ethan demanded as he grabbed my hand and hauled me to my feet. "Once we're in the tunnel just use your earth magic to cave in the entrance and he won't be able to follow us anyway."

I nodded, pressing a hand to my temple for a moment as I healed away the damage of the wound which was making me dizzy and my thoughts quickly sharpened.

We were standing in a dome of ice that Ethan had cast to hide us from the Belorian and I whipped around as I looked through the glassy structure, hunting for Sin.

"We need Sin," I said firmly. "Jerome will kill us and everyone we love if we leave here without him."

Not that that was the only reason I was determined to get the Incubus out of here with us anymore, but it was the simplest way to make it clear to Ethan that this wasn't up for any kind of discussion.

"Let's find him then," Ethan agreed, waving a hand to dispel the ice surrounding us and then taking my hand so that he could use his magic to lower our body temperatures.

The Belorian roared somewhere beyond the stacks of books to our right and I yanked on Ethan's hand as I threw my free hand out before us and cast a wooden stairway to grow up out of the carpet for us to climb. We raced up it until we were on a level with the tops of the bookshelves and I made a bridge for us to cross over between them.

I fell still as I spotted the Belorian by the door with Sin racing away from it, casting a halo of fire in place above his head to lure it his way.

"What the hell is he doing?" I demanded.

"I'd guess he's drawing it away from you, love. You have a way of making crazy motherfuckers like you."

I sucked in a breath as the monster leapt at him and Sin shifted, suddenly becoming the female version of the creature in the blink of an eye and shaking his ass about before racing out of the library doors with the Belorian hot on his heels.

"Sin!" I yelled, but before I could chase after him, a blur of motion whipped towards me and Cain ripped me out of Ethan's arms, knocking me clean off of the bridge I'd created and crashing down towards the floor.

I threw a hand out and made a bed of leaves to catch us as we fell, struggling wildly beneath Cain as he fought to pin me down in them.

"Just let us go," I begged, not because I thought he could stop me but because I really didn't want to have to hurt him.

"Why the fuck would I do that? You played me, used me, fucked me like a whore and were going to run off into the night without ever even thinking of me again,” he snarled furiously.

"That's not true," I growled. "I told you where you could find me. I wanted you to come to Mount Lupa."

Cain's brow furrowed in confusion for the briefest moment and his grip on me slackened a little just before Ethan blasted him with a surge of water magic that had him tumbling off of me.

I gasped as I scrambled back up to my feet, leaping in front of Ethan as he forged a spear out of ice and raised it in his hand ready to throw.

"Leave him," I commanded, the bark of an Alpha in my tone enough to make my mate pause.

"He won't stop coming after us, love," he protested, his arm tensing for the blow and Cain took his chance to shoot away.

"Get Sin," I commanded. "I can deal with Cain."

Ethan hesitated for half a second, his gaze locking with mine for a heartbeat before he nodded once and raced away towards the doors.

Cain tore around the room and I cursed as I summoned whips into my hands forged from vines.

He shot at me, throwing a handful of flames my way and I ducked beneath them before whipping
