fool enough to cross him, but he was also a Fae of his word and I trusted him to keep to his part in this.

"Have you locked down the guards’ quarters?" I asked urgently.

"Don't get your panties in a twist, beautiful. It will all be done as requested and the magic will be put in place to block any lines of communication from making it out of Darkmore within the next five minutes. So if you have any other calls to make then you'd better do it now. After that there won't be a peep heard from Darkmore for the next three hours by phone, transmitter, email or even carrier pigeon."

"Three?" I growled. "You promised me six!"

"Well, it turns out their overrides are going to be a lot harder to block than I anticipated. I'll give you all the time I can, but I don't want to promise more than three hours. Once you get to your cousin and the stardust, you won't need to worry about the FIB being on your asses anyway. And I'll up your fee to cover the extra risk involved."

"Gee, thanks," I said sarcastically and he laughed like this was all some big joke. Which I guessed when you were sitting up in your penthouse hacking a few systems it probably seemed like it was. Never mind us little folk trapped in a hole in the ground and left down here to rot forevermore if it all went to shit.

"See you on the outside, beautiful. Try not to get caught." The line went dead and I cursed, crumpling the pudding pot in my hand as the magic ran out and tossing it aside.

I turned and found that almost everyone had headed into the tunnel already behind Plunger, but Roary was waiting for me, his arms folded and his mouth set in a firm line.

"All good?" he asked.

"Pretty much," I agreed. "I've just been given a firm reminder that if I don't get Sin out of here then all of our heads will be on the chopping block. Oh, and the six hours we were supposed to be getting with no interference from the FIB just became three. Which means we need to hurry the fuck up."

"You've got this, Rosa," he said firmly, holding my gaze as he waited for me to confirm I believed that too.

"Damn straight I do, Roar," I replied firmly. "I just need to call Dante before the external communications are all blocked off."

He nodded and I pulled the second pudding pot transmitter from my pocket, connecting the dental floss to the blueberry gum to start up the magic and then lifting it to my ear.

"Is that you Rosa?" a voice called excitedly and it took me a moment to recognise Roary's brother as a load of interference messed up the sound.

"Leon?" I asked with a frown. "Are you with Dante? Is something wrong?"

"It's all good little lupa," he called. "I'm riding him as we speak!"

"I assume you mean in his Dragon form?" I teased and Leon howled a laugh.

"You never know. Maybe I finally tamed the beast and have him writhing beneath me in ecstasy while he fists the bedsheets and begs for more."

A Dragon roared in the background and I laughed as a crash of thunder followed his protest.

"Alright, alright, we are currently flying through the clouds, working up a storm for you and Roary so that we can smash that fence with the lightning bolt of dreams."

"Perfetto," I said with a grin. "I've just gotta neutralise the Order Suppressant and the riot will take off in full force. Half the guards are locked in their quarters and we’ll be climbing on up out of here in no time.”

"See you soon then, little Wolf!" Leon whooped with laughter and Dante roared again, making my heart thunder in anticipation as the call disconnected and I turned to grin at Roary.

"My brother is up there too?" he asked, his golden eyes lighting and I nodded.

"This is really happening, Roar. Just a little bit longer and you and me will be laying on the beach sunning ourselves while the world tries to hunt us down."

"Let's get moving then," he said, the excitement in him clear and making me want to jump up and down and squeal like a kid at Christmas. "I'll come with you down to maintenance."

"You can't," I disagreed. "Plunger is going to start digging just as soon as he gets to the other end of that tunnel. He can't breach
