Darkmore Penitentiary 2 - Caroline Peckham Page 0,195

was still kind of shell-shocked from the three-way he’d sprung on me. I wasn’t supposed to desire any other Fae, but somehow with him there, it had felt good. I’d enjoyed his hands on me, even more so because Rosa had looked so turned on by it. Pleasing my mate was ingrained in me by the moon, and if Sin pleased her then maybe I was going to have to get used to the occasional orgy with my mate. So long as she was mine at the end of the day, I guessed could handle that.

Sin had two more bowls lined up as if he was eating for a marathon tonight. I'd filled my belly well too, unsure where the next meal would come from. I knew it would be a while before I could go to my baby sister and eat the delights of her kitchen again. Once the alert was raised, the FIB would head straight to the homes of anyone connected to us, and unlike Rosalie, my family wouldn’t be capable of hiding me, but I had ways of reaching them. Contacts the FIB could never link to me.

I didn’t plan on becoming a leader amongst the Lunars when I left here. No, after too much time in Darkmore, my priorities had changed. I wanted to move somewhere far away from the cities and find a pack of my own to rule alongside my mate. I just had to convince her to join me in that dream once we escaped. And I hadn't figured out quite how I'd manage it just yet.

Pudding and Claud were talking together across the room and excitement rippled down my spine as I looked to Rosalie again and she tossed her hair, the signal clear. It was time.

But before I could open my mouth, the Mess Hall doors opened and Officer Nichols escorted Gustard into the room, making my gut drop like a fucking stone. I looked back to Rosalie whose face paled as he was released into the masses, straightening his sleeve where the guard had been holding him before throwing a broad smile at my mate. That fucker. That piece of shit. He'd found a way out. I should have known that shady asshole would find a way to be here tonight. He moved to sit down amongst his gang and I swallowed the lump in my throat, sharing an intent look with Rosalie. She gritted her jaw then shrugged infinitesimally at me. And I knew there wasn't a single thing we could do about Gustard, because it was time to fucking go.

I howled furiously, diving out of my seat just as Rosalie dove out of hers, the two of us rushing together and drawing our packs after us. I took Rosalie to the ground as our Wolves collided either side of us, not questioning our reasons, just following us blindly into war. The shrieks and whinnies, cries and squeals breaking out around the room told me that the rest of our team were starting their own fights and the guards roared orders at us to stop.

I lowered my mouth to Rosalie's ear as she punched my sides more fiercely than was really necessary and I crushed her to the floor. "See you soon, love."

She smiled for half a second and a moronic part of me considered claiming a kiss from her, afraid it might be our last if this all went to hell. But I couldn't risk it. I had to hold myself in check even now. Just a little longer.

I scrambled away through the mess of bodies, subtly carving a path for Rosalie to get through so she could make it to the door. Her fingers clasped mine for the briefest moment then she was gone, slipping through the riot like a ghost.

I smiled, howling before throwing my fist into one of her packmate's faces then diving over him as he fell at my feet. The crush of bodies was cover enough and it helped that the fight was already spilling out into the hallway.

Sparkle charged through the crowd with her Pegasus herd at her back, whinnying furiously as she knocked people down beneath her and they were trampled underfoot. I raced past her, kicking out the backs of her knees as I went and she neighed angrily as she went down.

I fled past Pudding who was throwing chairs at a herd of Griffins, knocking them out one at a time with frightening accuracy. I slapped him on
