the far side of the forest to ours, so my mamma made up a basket of ingredients for a potion to help make her better and asked me to run them over to her. The only problem was that at this time, the gang wars were raging in Alestria-"

Several murmurs around the group said that people remembered those dark times well and I nodded while Cain stared at me like he was drinking this all in and a thrill raced down my spine as I tossed him a scowl, like I was mad about him making me share this before I went on.

"So, my mamma warned me that there had been sightings of an unfamiliar Wolf on the outskirts of our land who she was pretty sure was a Lunar spy. She told me to keep an eye out for the Wolf and to make sure I ran to my grandmother's house as fast as I could just in case. It was winter, so I grabbed my gloves and cloak and I did as she asked and ran down the path into the forest. Before long, I started to get the creeping feeling that someone was watching me, so I upped my pace and ran on. An unfamiliar howl sounded in the trees somewhere behind me and of course I totally freaked-"

"This is baaaad," Gambol murmured and I nodded as I blew out a breath like I was building up to telling them something awful.

"I was so scared that I shifted, bursting through my clothes and grabbing the basket of ingredients between my teeth as I sped away in my Wolf form, though luckily, my red cloak stayed tied around my neck as I ran. The unfamiliar howls chased me through the trees until I was certain a whole pack was closing in on me and I swear, I'd never felt fear like it. Somehow, I made it to my grandmother's house, but the magical wards protecting it were down and as I burst inside, I found the place in darkness. I shifted back into my Fae form, shoving the door closed behind me and rushing upstairs as I called out to my grandma, wrapping the cloak tight around me as I went."

"Ohhh, it's baaaad," Gambol breathed.

"Her room was dark, but when I saw the outline of her body in the bed and the deep sound of her breaths filling the room reached me, I relaxed, assuming I'd just found her sleeping off her illness. But as she sat up and beckoned me closer, I screamed-"

"What was it?" Gambol urged, typing furiously. "Was it baaaaad?"

"I just couldn't believe..." My gaze moved to meet Cain's and I dropped the terrified mask as my lips hooked up in a smirk. "What big eyes she had."

"What?" Cain barked, the penny finally dropping.

"And what big ears she had," I added, my taunting smile growing even wider. "And what big teeth-"

Cain's arms wrapped around my waist and he was hoisting me out of my chair and shooting out of the door before I even realised what was going on. We shot down the hallway and into a little office with two armchairs and a small table in it. He shoved me up against the door and snarled in my face, throwing a silencing bubble over us.

"Tell me how you did that?" he growled. "How did you overcome the Truth Stick's magic?"

"Does it make you angry when I lie, boss man?" I taunted, shifting the Truth Stick in my fingers until I was pressing it to the back of his hand where he was fisting a handful of my jumpsuit in his grip.

"You know it does," he growled.

"And does it turn you on too?" I teased.

"More than I would ever admit," he said in a deep voice which had heat rushing between my thighs before I could stop myself from reacting.

It took him a moment to realise what he'd said, and he looked down at the Truth Stick which I was still pressing to his hand before bellowing in rage and ripping it from my hands then smashing it against the wall.

The Stick of Truth broke into two pieces which bounced down on the carpet and I smirked at him in triumph.

"How did you manage to lie like that while you were holding it?" he demanded, still pinning me to the door.

"Maybe I wasn't lying. Maybe my life just happens to draw parallels to fairy tales a lot of the time. When I pricked my finger
