Crushing on my Billionaire Best Friend - Jolie Day Page 0,93

her hips with a huge grin. “Fine, but Laney, I best be getting a call tomorrow. Oliver’s game.” Lisa cut her eyes to me, and I nodded, trying not to embarrass Laney further, but it was so damn funny.

“Dear God. What have I done to deserve this?” Laney tried to cover her face again.

Lisa pulled her hands down. “Well, you found me outside a coffee shop, and the rest was history. Now you’re stuck with me as your best friend forever, girl. Deal with it.” She raised an eyebrow, and the two started snickering.

Laney grinned big. “I love you. And that was one of the best days ever.”

“Yup, it was,” Lisa said. “Girl, you’re the confident bitch we all aspire to be.”

Laney pulled her into the booth beside us where we laughed, drank, and talked for a couple of hours. It was one of those warm, magical kind of nights that we didn’t want to end. But the promise of what would happen when Laney and I got home was enough to pull us away.

After months of hiding away in bed with her as often as we could, for as long as we could, I still wasn’t satisfied. It felt like I would never get enough of her. Laney even jumped on the bike with me. I thought that’d never happen, but she finally told me her “real” reasons as to why she’d always refused to go riding with me: her worry of being too close to me and some bullshit about the bike slowing down. After I told her that the bike was strong enough to carry more than the weight of two of me and two of her at the same time without me noticing, she finally relaxed and had a hell of a time.

“What should we do with the rest of the night?” she asked as we stepped inside our apartment. She tilted her head to remove her earrings. “A movie? Some junk food? A little of both? Or maybe…we could just go straight to bed.”

“That last option does sound appealing.” I smirked, pulling her close to me. “But I have a better idea. Why don’t you go change into something more comfortable and meet me in the living room?”

“Oliver, you know I don’t like surprises.”

“Trust me.” I smacked her ass as she turned to go to the bedroom.

While waiting for her to change, I grabbed a bottle of tequila from the liquor cabinet and put some pillows on the living room floor. I threw on one of our favorite playlists full of songs from our high school years and sat cross-legged on the floor until she returned.

“What’s all this?” She grinned as I tugged her down to sit on the pillow across from me.

“I’d like to propose another game of Truth or Dare—without the dares.” I handed her the bottle.

She threw back a swig and wiped her mouth with a grimace. “Oh, boy.”

“First question is yours.”

She cut her gaze to the side, pausing in thought. “Okay, I have a question for you. When did you know?”

“Know what?”

“That you loved me.” She giggled, still blushing every time she said the “L-word” in reference to us.

“Ah, that’s a tricky one.” I smirked. “It happened in phases. But hindsight is twenty-twenty. And I’d say, looking back now, that I fell in love with you the first time I saw you sitting in the principal’s office.”

“Liar.” She smacked me on the leg playfully and grinned.

“And again, when I wanted to punch Amber Collins for bumping into you and calling you names.”

“Stop lying. You’ll grow a long nose like Pinocchio.”

“Okay. There was the time I found you crying on the steps of the school building. I remember that moment. But, I remember something better. The first night you slept on my couch, and I saw your boobs.”

Laney’s eyes widened. “What? When did you see my boobs? How? You never said anything. Oliver…”

“Well, what was I supposed to say, that I woke up and your tits were just out there? Your shirt had rolled up while you were sleeping. I didn’t look too much. I covered you up with a blanket.” I couldn’t help but chuckle at her reaction.

“Oh, my God… Okay, moving on. The next time?” Her cheeks were pink and so adorable when she was embarrassed.

“The night we danced in your bedroom. And pretty much almost every time we saw each other. Until it all compounded and was so obvious, I couldn’t hide from it anymore, which was pretty much
