together. Colt and Fallon are important to me.”
“Fine.” He says standing, and I kiss his cheek, before he leaves the room without another word.
“Well, that could’ve gone better,” Creek says taking a deep breath as the three of them sit.
“You could say that. One down, two to go,” I sigh as I cuddle up next to him on the sofa.
“Don’t think I’m totally okay with this, I get where Levi is coming from. No offence, man.”
“None taken,” Colt says, lifting his hands. “I know it’s a long road to walk.”
“Well, people better start running down the road,” I huff. “I don’t want to have to pick sides any more than I already have.”
“Well, I’m not going to fight you on it, it’s done. Just prepare yourself, because there is no way Levi is done with you,” Creek says solemnly, and I nod.
“I have no idea how you don’t piss your pants every time he loses his temper.” Colt laughs. “He’s fucking terrifying. I’ll take on any Dracul or Lycan, but his powers, his fighting ability, yeah the guy is a terrifying powerhouse.”
“He’s a big softie.” I tell him with a smile. “Just a protective one. He’ll come round.”
“Oh, I bet he will. Lycan incoming,” Fallon says pulling her knees up to her chest on the sofa, and I let out a deep breath.
“We have company,” Roman says as he enters the room with a smile. He strides over to me, and picks me up from where I’m sitting, then sits down with me on his lap. “The Witch and?”
“My brother, Colt,” I tell him, realizing they’ve not met, or at least not been introduced.
“Nice to meet you, man,” Roman says with a nod as he wraps his arms around me.
“You too.” Colt nods back, and I’m not sure who’s more shocked, me, Creek, Fallon, or Colt.
“Erm, who are you and what did you do with Roman?” I look up at him, and he chuckles.
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, where’s the domineering asshole gone? Not losing your shit over my brother being here?”
“I’ll leave that to the Angel. I saw you in action at the compound, I trust that you’ve got yourself. I might not like it, but I’m not going to keep wading in unless I’m needed.”
“Really?”
“Really.” He nods and kisses me, and I sink into him. Well, that was easier than I thought.
“This is far less dramatic than I expected,” Fallon huffs with a laugh. “Stupid asshole’s being so understanding.”
“Got to get through dinner yet,” Roman says, and I roll my eyes.
“It will be fine. Kain won’t lose his shit, I honestly thought Levi and Roman would be the big problems, but apparently my wolf has mellowed a little.” I shrug, and Roman chuckles beneath me.
“Only a little. I trust you to hold your own, but if I’m needed, mellow is the last thing I’ll be, Princess. Just like if your brother betrays you, mellow will be the last thing he’ll meet.”
“Good thing I don’t intend on betraying anyone,” Colt says stiffly.
“He knows, he’s just being a dick,” Creek says, defusing the tension.
“I thought I heard voices.” Kain appears, with a bottle of blood in his hand, his lips redder than usual. Colts eyes go wide at the sight, and I swear he holds his breath. “Mon amour, are you pushing buttons?” His eyes glitter at me.
It’s a good thing I’m the relaxed one, he says inside my head, and I smile.
I knew you trusted me enough that you wouldn’t lose your head over a few guests, who I trust. You okay? I haven’t seen you drink in a while.
I am fine, mon coeur. Just having my daily top up. I’ve been drinking more in preparation for what’s on the horizon. I need my strength.
“Am I missing something?” Colt says, as I continue looking at Kain, the rest of the room silent.
“You must be, Colt,” Kain says, moving forward and shaking hands with my brother who looks at Kain like he’s an alien.
“That’s me.”
“I am Kain. It’s nice to finally meet you,” he says with a small smile before stepping back and leaning against the far wall as he continues to sip his blood.
“He can speak to me, without speaking,” I tell Colt who looks like his mind is blown.
“The bond?” Fallon asks, and I nod. “I’d heard rumors, but I didn’t know if it was true. I wouldn’t have thought it would work with a Hunter.”
“Oh, our Remy is special.” Kain winks at Fallon, and she giggles while
