seem to heal from anything thrown at them,” I tell her what Levi told me after dinner last night.

“We would also like to know if the binding of DNA can be undone,” Colt says from his seat beside Fallon.”

“As for the alliance, all I ask is that you join with us, in peace, once the threat has passed,” I state, and they each watch me closely, as if trying to detect a lie. “I do not wish for another few centuries of bloodshed. I don’t even want to go back to the old ways. I want to forge a new way, a way of peace, a way that means people can love without being in fear of being cast out, of being sentenced to death.” I know with the nods then, that Marie has already told them what I have been through, at least, as much of it as she knows.

“I have seen it. A threat is coming,” Marie’s voice carries across the table, grave and low. “Remy is our only chance of success.” She closes her eyes, and the Witches and their heirs all go rigid, their eyes closed. Colt and I look at each other, because what the hell is going on.

A gasp from Fallon at the table as everyone comes back to us has me on edge.

“What just happened?” I ask, my gaze darting around, dread fills me, and I feel sick at the looks they give me.

“I shared my vision with them,” Marie says, looking at me with kind eyes, but full of sadness.

“What vision?” I ask, but she shakes her head.

“She cannot tell you,” Ilaria says softly. “But my coven will stand with you Remington Bennett.”

“As will mine.” Demetera nods.

“As will mine,” Bree says softly.

“You already know that my coven is with you.” Marie pats my hand gently. While I’m thankful for the support from these Witches, I can’t help the pit in my stomach that grows as each Witch agrees to bring their coven in support should we need it, because whatever they saw, whatever I cannot know or see, it can’t have been rainbows and puppies to garner such a response.

Angelina and Jodi also agree to bring their covens should I call on them, but Lizzie remains silent.

“I will not send my Witches to this folly,” Lizzie says, and her heir looks at her as if she has lost her mind, obviously not agreeing.

“Is it your Witches who stand with the other side?” Ilaria asks fiercely.

“We do not know which Witches are working with them,” Marie states but eyes Lizzie. “We cannot force you to join us, but to stay separate, what you risk, do you not wish for peace at long last?”

“My people, on our island, we know a peace of sorts. Not all guilds are as combative as they are here. If this threat rises, then we may reconsider, but as it stands, I will not stand with you,” Lizzie says, crossing her arms.

“That is fine,” I tell her softly. “You must do what is best for the people you look after. I understand.”

“So be it,” Marie says. She murmurs under her breath, and the golden dome around us disintegrates. Each person stands, and the table around us disappears.

“We shall meet again at the next moon,” Marie tells them, and each nods, except for Lizzie. I gasp as magic swirls in the air, circles that grow before each of the coven heads, and I realize they’re freaking portals. I had no idea that this magic even existed. I look at Fallon who smirks, and I work out that this is something that we’re not meant to know. The coven heads and their heirs walk through their portals, and with a hiss, they each close.

“Holy fates…” I say, my eyes wide as I look to Marie and Fallon. “That was… you guys are kind of awesome.”

“Oh, we know.” Marie winks at us, while Colt still just looks dumbfounded.

“You okay over there big brother?” He shakes his head and opens his mouth as if to speak, but then closes it again.

“I had no idea,” he says in awe, looking at Fallon in a whole other way.

“As long as you understand that you must not share what you’ve seen here,” she tells Colt. “Your men are already aware, except for Creek.” She winks at me, and I laugh.

“Of course they are. But, honestly Marie. Thank you, for everything you’ve done, and everything you did today.”

“No child, thank you. I know you cannot know the
