A Crown Of Smoke And Ash - Sloane Murphy Page 0,62

on. Stripping out of my clothes, I pop them in the bag and stand under the hot water. I use the shower gel in here, assuming it’s his, the same with the shampoo, and then let the water run all over me, until I start to prune.

I climb out and wrap two towels in here around me, one on my hair, and pad back into the bedroom. I pull some fresh underwear and a pair of jeans from my bag, and dress, but then grab Roman’s bag and pull out one of his t-shirts. It’s so soft, and it smells just like him, so I set it aside while I blow out my hair. Once its dry, I slip his shirt on and head back out into the cabin. He’s still lying down, but he looks more relaxed now.

I step up to him, and lean down, to kiss his forehead before heading back to my chair. His hand rushes out and grabs my waist, pulling me down on top of him. “That’s more like it,” he says as he nuzzles into my neck. I get comfortable and lay my head on his chest.

“Sleep,” I tell him softly, and close my eyes, wrapped in his arms.

“Wake up, Princess.” Roman’s voice is soft as I stir, his hand stroking my hair, and the last thing I want to do it move. “We land in a few minutes, so we need to sit up.”

I groan, and he laughs softly beneath me, but I stretch out and when he sits, he takes me with him. “We’re here?”

“We are. If you look out the windows, you’ll see.” I look, and gasp at the view below us. Fields and forest for miles. Water in the distance, mountains.

“It’s beautiful,” I sigh wistfully. I’ve never seen such beauty in landscape before.

“It is.” He nods. “Thank you, for being here, for earlier.”

I turn back to him and kiss his cheek. “I’m sorry I didn’t do it before.” I stand and go back to the chair I was in before, and buckle in ready for our descent. He goes up front, his voice low as he speaks to Theron, who I realize I haven’t even said hello to yet. I put my head in my hands and shake myself. I really need to get better at peopling.

Roman comes back and sits beside me, taking my hand in his. “Everything okay?”

He smiles down at me and nods his head. “Yeah, he said he had word from Tobias, and the ground is cleared. We can land.”

“I probably should have said hello.” I shrug, and he laughs at me.

“He’d have told you to get the hell out of his cockpit. There’s time for all of that later.” His words soothe me just before my stomach tilts as the plane begins its journey towards the ground.

I officially hate flying.

Scratch that, flying is fine. Takeoff and landing just suck.

I squeak as the wheels touch the floor, bouncing softly before we come to a halt, and I swear inside my head about the fact this won’t be my last time in the air.

“Welcome home,” Roman whispers in my ear as he kisses the side of my head. A shudder runs through me and I smile. Home.

“I can’t wait to see it. It looks huge.”

“You’ve not seen anything yet, Princess.” He winks at me as the plane taxis to a stop, and then he stands, graceful as ever, and heads to the back of the plane to grab our bags. I’m standing by the time he returns, having slipped my feet back into my chucks, giving myself a pep talk when Theron appears from the cockpit. I smile at him, but he snarls, looking me up and down. It’s then I realize the tall, olive skinned man before me, with chocolate brown eyes, is the wolf who gave me my phone back after the Lycan ambush so very many moons ago.

He turns and walks away, after a nod to Roman who shakes his head and leads me off of the plane. “Don’t worry, Princess. He’ll come around. He’s just a moody bastard on a good day.”

“I heard that!” Theron yells back to us.

“I knew you would, dickhead!” Roman shouts back, and I laugh. “See, he’s like it with everyone.” He puts his arm over my shoulder, and pulls me in close before walking me toward the hanger.

“I cannot believe you have this here.” I look around at the sheer size of the place, wondering how much of
