A Crown Of Smoke And Ash - Sloane Murphy Page 0,52
the other four are, so we’re missing people, but this is a better start than I could have hoped for. I put the journals back as they were, and head out of the room to find Fallon still sat on the floor, Creek sat beside her waiting for me.
“Took long enough,” Fallon grins before kneeling again and placing her hands back on the glass to redo the wards she broke through to gain us access. It happens much faster this time, and we head back upstairs. We open the door back to the hall, and I hear voices.
Shit.
“Let me through,” Fallon says softly, and I shake my head, but she pushes me out of the way anyway.
“Hey boys, I think someone forgot I was here,” she says, confidence exuding from her voice. I hear their murmurs in return, and then a flash of light.
“Come on, quick. They won’t be down for long,” she calls out, and we rush forward, finding her kneeling between them, a hand on each of their temples. “Can’t let them remember what happened can we?”
She grins and speaks quietly again. A smaller flare appears, and she stands. “Let’s get out of here.”
We head out, and Fallon reapplies the wards on the building putting them back as they were before we were here. As if nothing ever happened. My best friend is clearly more skilled and badass than I ever realized.
We walk quickly to the hotel Levi booked for us in advance, two adjoining rooms. We keep our heads down as we enter the lobby, making for the elevators as swiftly as we can without making a scene.
Once we reach our rooms, Fallon puts a silencing spell on the doors, so that no-one can hear us in here, and I finally feel like I can breathe again.
“That was…” I let out a breath, and fall onto the bed. “I’m glad this isn’t a regular thing for us, let’s put it that way.”
“I thought it was kind of fun.” Fallon holds her hands up with a wide smile.
“Of course, you did,” Creek says, shaking his head. “At least we got what we came for, now we just need to hope that the others got what they needed too.”
“I’m heading out for the night, you guys have some fun.” Fallon’s head pops through the adjoining door, and she winks at me.
“Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” She laughs, and closes the door before either of us get a chance to say anything. I laugh, because of course she’s heading out now. When we’re both exhausted and sat in bed watching a film. Though, she didn’t do any of the driving down here, so she had plenty of time to sleep.
“Room service?” I ask Creek with a small smile, and he nods.
“Hell yes, going outside is so not an option, I’m tired, but so freaking hungry.” I laugh at the sentiment, his mood matching my own, and lean across the bed to grab the menu. “It’s a good thing we made good choices in our previous lives, all those fun time investments. Now, I don’t have to worry about money ever again, and it's awesome.”
“I know, I just wish someone had told me to invest in Apple,” I laugh with a shrug. I saw those bank accounts, investing in Apple or not, I’m not going to have to work for several lifetimes over. Even if I live a life of luxury. It's the only reason I don’t balk at the service and delivery fees. This place is nice, and oh man do the prices reflect it.
"I'm taking a shower," I call out from the bathroom as he heads to the hotel phone to order our food, "can you get me a burger and fries, please?" I ask, taking my clothes off at the speed of light. I’m beyond exhausted, and need to be clean before eating and snuggling under the covers.
"Sure thing, beautiful," I hear as I turn on the water and wait for it to heat.
It takes me longer than I expect to wash my hair, body and everything in between. In fact, I’m almost disappointed that Creek doesn’t sneak in here and fuck me against the shower wall.
By the time I get out, my exhaustion seems to have ebbed, replaced with feeling a little frisky and a whole lot horny, which makes me dry myself off quickly, and forego the towel as I leave the room. I walk out of the bathroom, and sashay into the main room
