A Crown Of Fire And Wrath (The Shadow Walkers Saga #5) - Sloane Murphy Page 0,34

arms. The look on Roman’s and Creek’s faces were ones to behold. Levi was the only other one amused, but I imagine that’s because he practically had me to himself in Avalon.

“Of course, can’t keep them waiting,” I tell him, amused. He pulls the pocket square from his suit jacket and wipes my neck, making sure all traces of blood are gone. I kiss his cheek softly and head out of the room to find the others. The sound of their voices makes me smile as I turn around, realizing they’re in the gym. If anyone throws me in the pool today, there will be hell to pay.

I open the door, with Kain behind me, and lean on him while I just watch them shooting the shit as they work out. Apparently, their frustration from last night didn’t go anywhere if the view in front of me is anything to go by. But my heart lightens seeing how close they’re getting. Who would’ve thought that this would ever be a possibility? That any factions could get on this well, let alone these particular guys. I sigh happily and they all notice my arrival.

“Morning,” I practically sing as I spring into the area, and Roman is on me in a second, wrapping his very sweaty arms around me, but I can’t find it in me to complain, even if he is a little gross.

He buries his face in my neck and takes a deep breath, then relaxes in my arms. I can’t imagine how hard the wolf has been riding him since everything happened. I don’t even really know what happened after Bauer stabbed me, my mind is a little fuzzy, but being fatally stabbed will do that to a girl. I meet Creek’s gaze over Roman’s shoulder, and he gives me a soft smile. He might be a different man now to the one I’ve known for so long, but deep down, he’s still my big softie. He cares so deeply about everything, and everyone, and I can see that even though he’s impatient to get his own reassurance again that I’m still here, he doesn’t begrudge the others their time with me.

“Don’t ever do that to me again,” Roman grumbles lowly, his chest vibrating with his words, he doesn’t pull back even an inch, if anything his arms tighten around me.

“I don’t plan to,” I whisper back to him as I thread my fingers through his hair. He pulls back, and looks down at me, his eyes flash, and he takes another deep breath. The glow settles, and he smiles, and I know that the wolf has finally settled.

Creek moves towards me and gets his own hug in, squeezing me tight but keeping it reasonably brief. I feel his power wash over me, a light pleasure coating my skin, and it makes me laugh softly. He winks at me and pulls back, giving me some space.

“Glad as I am to be back, I think we need to talk,” I tell them all, trying to keep my voice light, despite the fact that what we’re about to discuss is probably going to piss them off.

“Nothing good ever comes from those words,” Creek groans, and scrubs a hand down his face.

“Ain’t that the truth,” Roman agrees.

“Shall we move this conversation to a more comfortable setting, with less things available to launch?” Kain chuckles, and Levi joins in.

“It’s not that bad, I just… I need you guys to stop keeping things from me. Even if you think it’s to protect me. I got all of my memories back, so I have access to pretty much everything, but I have no doubt that you all kept things from me in the past under the guise of protecting me, so there’s likely still a ton of stuff I have no idea about. I am not some helpless girl that needs to be saved or protected, I never have been, so I need you all to put the alpha bullshit away, and include me in the conversations. Case in point, Michael,” I say, turning to Levi. “You very obviously left some crucial information out there, I half understand it, but that doesn’t mean I agree with it.”

He does at least look a little sorry, but only a little.

“I did what I thought was best in the moment. Michael has always been… mercurial. And obviously he’s not my biggest fan, plus, there was literally a bounty on your head at one point. He didn’t go against
